What to expect
Activities such as marinating the apples and stretching out the pastry can be a lot of fun. While the apple strudel is baking in the oven, you'll prepare the most popular cookies at Christmastime in Austria, Vanilla Kipferl, and get served a hot goulash soup for lunch.
At the end of your lesson the whole room is filled with Christmas fragrances, and the whole experience of baking is guaranteed to be as rewarding as enjoying the final outcome itself.

Very fun activity and a great social event. Made some wonderful strudel and cookies while learning about them/Salzburg as well. Johann was very cool and made the cooking fun!

The dough for the strudel had been prepared in advance as it needs to sit in the fridge for hours, but we were shown how to make it at the end of the class. We really enjoyed this afternoon and learned a lot. The dough for the strudel had been prepared in advance as it needs to sit in the fridge for hours, but we were shown how to make it at the end of the class. The instruction was clear and easy to follow. The groups are kept small so that the teacher has time to also move around and help you. Johann is a great guy and a patient teacher. After preparing the strudel and cookies, we had a bowl of gulasch soup for lunch and then enjoyed what we had cooked for dessert. Drinks are available for purchase while you cook and eat and you can also purchase a cookbook at the end for a very reasonable price. My only suggestion would be to start the class at noon or 1pm rather than 2pm. Since there is a soup included for lunch, it would be better to start the class a little earlier. Had a great afternoon though and will return to learn to cook something different with Johann on the next visit to Salzburg.An absolute must! Our family of seven had a private class with Alicia. This was one of the highlights of our trip!!Hands on experience. Showed us the steps and always had a positive attitude.
