We were in Puerto Vallarta as part of a cruise. So we were in town for a single day. We signed up for a 3 hour Puerto Vallarta City Tour. However, when we were picked up for the tour, it turned out to be a five to six hour tour. That would have resulted in our missing our cruise ship departure time. Fortunately, the tour guide was flexible and we were able to spend about 3 hours on the tour and he arranged for us to be delivered back to the dock while other tour participants were shopping in the downtown. The tour bus first made a circuit picking up tour participants from a variety of hotels and then sitting at a gathering point to wait for more people to arrive. So, there was about a 50 minute delay from the time that we were picked up until the tour actually started. Our guide was experienced, engaging, very fluent in English and knowledgeable about sights to see in Puerto Vallarta. The tour bus drove us to a beach and boardwalk area. Then there was a quick walk through a beach area and a few minutes for pictures of the bay. Next, we walked into the downtown business district and made a ten minute visit to one of the churches. After the church, we were taken to a jewelry store where tour members shopped for about 45 minutes. We re-boarded the bus for a drive though a residential area and were delivered to a restaurant/tequila sales location. Tour members ordered lunch (at their expense) and while lunch was being prepared, the group was given a presentation on Tequila that included multiple tastings. The Tequila was locally made and of good quality, but very expensive compared to quality tequilas available at grocery stores in Puerto Vallarta. So we enjoyed the tasting but purchased our liquor after the tour ended. The rest of the group seemed to enjoy their lunch. After the lunch the bus took us back to town and stopped at the downtown market place. That's where we left the tour. The tour was a typical combination of sightseeing and shopping opportunities. The commercial aspect made the tour far less expensive than most of the excursions available to us through our cruise line. However, the tour is a good way to get a fast introduction to Puerto Vallarta and, if you don't mind spending some of your time shopping for jewelry and tequila, its a good introduction to the town.I love reading reviews, so when I began planning our trip to Puerto Vallarta Trip Advisor was very helpful. I love reading reviews, so when I began planning our trip to Puerto Vallarta Trip Advisor was very helpful. I read about so many things prior to us heading out. I wanted us to do a tour within the first day or two of us getting into town, so I began reading a bunch on City tours. I have to say some of them made me a little nervous, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a great day! We were picked up at our resort a little late, but that was okay because we were on vacation and planned to be on the tour all day. Our tour guide Adan made it fun. He had a great personality and was funny. Our group was about 18, which made things nice. Again there is only so much you can do in one day with a good size group anyway. Adan gave a little history on various things, explained where we were going and kept things tight. The view alone was amazing. The tequila distillery presentation and tasting were fun. The food was SPECTACULAR!!! Gracias Adan para todo!Really a good tour for the $$. Got to see major attractions of PV with educational information and history. Also got free time to wander a bit and shop. Included a trip up the hills to Mismaloya with beautiful scenery, distillery tour and lunch.

Miguel was our guide. Extremely knowledgeable, polite, interesting and funny. From our perspective the jewellery store and flea market stops were just a waste of time. Would have preferred to use this time on the Malecon which was too short. The Tequila Experience was entertaining and thee lunch there was good. A nice stop to see the arcos. The back seats of the tour van were elevated which made it more difficult to see out the windows. With different priorities this could have been a great tour.It was all you could want: highpoints of the city, visit to a coffee shop in the hills, lunch was excellant at a local a restaurnt, and the tequlla factory visit was informative and fun
