Stop At: Shirakawago, 517 Hatogaya, Shirakawa-mura, Ono-gun 501-5629 Gifu Prefecture
Our English speaking driver will take you directly to the UNESCO village of Shirakawago, You will spend 2 and half hours here. Crossing the spectacular pedestrian bridge across the Sho river, your senses will be filled with the sounds and smells of authentic rural life. This fairy-tale village is bound to inspire you as one of Japans most picturesque sites.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Hida Furukawa Old Town, Furukawacho, Hida Gifu Prefecture
Your group will then be whisked off to the canal lined streets of Hida-Furukawa. Your group will spend 1 hours here, exploring the town and taking in lunch. This once significant outpost during the Edo period is rich in architectural history. Famous for its timber craftsmanship and rowdy festivals this village is a rare gem among the towns and villages of this mountainous region.

Stop At: Takayama Museum of History and Art, 75 Kami1nomachi, Takayama 506-0844 Gifu Prefecture
Next stop is Takayama, you will spend 2 hours here exploring this beautifully preserved old town, famous in Japan for carpentry and Sake brewing. Takayama prospered during the Edo period and this is evident in its layout, beautiful buildings and cultural preservation.

A long day of touring that is well worth it. Incredible towns with incredible buildings and friendly people. Our guide/driver, Yuta, well informed and spoke pretty good English. We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

I wish we had more time going around Takayama's shopping district :)

We arranged a private 9-hour tour with Kanazawa Walking Tours during the week of September 23rd. The company was very flexible in accommodating our requests, and we had a wonderful tour of Takayama, Hida Furukawa and Shirakawago. Our guide, Mai, has a delightful personality, exceptional knowledge of the area and history, a deep appreciation of nature, and great timing! She picked us up from our hotel at 8:30am and we made it to Takayama in time for the morning market. The fresh produce and other treats were amazing! We also had a tasty lunch of Hida beef (my son's request), visits to locations portrayed in the movie Your Name, and a nice amount of sightseeing. Mai made it back to Kanazawa in time for our train back to Tokyo. The day was a highlight of our trip to Japan!Thank you Yuta our driver for a great trip from Takayama via Hida Furakawa and Shirakawago to Kanazawa. We enjoyed seeing the sites and also having a special tour of Higashi Chaya district in Kanazawa when we arrived. Would thoroughly recommend this tour as a great way to see these amazing sites....

We went to 3 cities over about 9 hours with Taka. He was and excellent tour guid and driver and exceeded our expectations. We particulary enjoyed the village of Shirakawago. Taka was very respectful and courteous and provided a lot of information and answered our questions. He also went out of his way to find us a great sushi restaurant in Kanazawa and dropped us at the restaurant on our return to Kanazawa.We took a tour of the three villages. It was a full day travelling in a brand new taxi with our very competent and informative driver. The weather was freezing but the sights in the three towns should not be missed. The weather was freezing but the sights in the three towns should not be missed. We had no difficulties arranging the day tour. Lead guide Gavin was immediately responsive to our email enquiries. We really enjoyed the day which was made even better by the flexibility in what we could see with additional suggestions from our driver. Absolutely worth the money! Greg & Mia.
