What to expect
Itinerary
Welcome! Our staff will kindly welcome you with a courtesy drink upon arrival at the marina located in the La Casa China Bacalar hotel facilities. There you will receive all the information and equipment necessary for your 3-hour sailing adventure.
Ahoy! We set sail from the dock and observe the Cenote Esmeralda; the largest of the entire lagoon as we move towards the Sanctuary of Stromatolites, sediments of ancestral organisms 10, 000 years old.
Your next stop is the famous Pirate Canal where the shallow and warm waters create an unforgettable setting. Here you will have the chance to swim and explore the area while we prepare a delicious fruit picnic. Can you imagine the battles against pirates who tried to loot the area almost 400 years ago?
You will enter the Black Cenote, known locally as the Cenote of the Witch, a place full of fantasy and mystery. Its depth exceeds 100 meters so you will be able to appreciate a color change in the water. From this site you will understand why it is known as the Lagoon of the 7 Colors.
The last stop before returning to the pier is Bird Island, a place where you can breathe peace and composure among the symphony of birds. Depending on the season you will be able to appreciate the flight of migratory species while you immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters.
When you return to the dock, you can continue enjoying the heveanlyl lagoon by kayak until sunset.

Daniel was a great captain! We had a wonderful time sailing around the lagoon with chances to swim and snorkel at several different spots. Weather was perfect. Water crystal clear. Great way to spend an afternoon. Made it as a day trip from Tulum. Long but easy drive. Get gas before leaving Tulum...

The Lagoon of Seven Colors in Bacalar is an amazing experience. The waters are so beautiful. We reserved a private sailboat because their set sailing times didn't align with our cruise ship arrival and departure in Costa Maya port. It was still much cheaper than any excursion that the cruise ship...
The Lagoon of Seven Colors in Bacalar is an amazing experience. The waters are so beautiful. We reserved a private sailboat because their set sailing times didn't align with our cruise ship arrival and departure in Costa Maya port. It was still much cheaper than any excursion that the cruise ship offered. The only issue we had was that we requested a sailboat tour (mentioning sailing in every email exchange with them), but when we got there, they said that the reservation was made for a pontoon motorboat instead. Our driver (from Toucan Tours) spoke enough English to understand what we were saying and work with Daytour to fix the confusion and get us the sailing that we had requested and understood that we made a reservation for. If you reserve this with them, clarify that they have you on the right kind of boat. Nowhere on their confirmations did they mention the type of tour we reserved -- just a private boat (no type). Once on the sailboat, it was an amazing experience. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly.
