Wir hatten schon einige Anläufe unternommen nach Sri Lanka zu reisen und dann immer wieder Abstand genommen, weil wir auf die Sommerferien angewiesen sind und uns unsicher waren, ob das die richtige Reisezeit ist. Dann kam Corona. Im Herbst letzten Jahres befassten wir uns dann konkret damit. Üb...
Wir hatten schon einige Anläufe unternommen nach Sri Lanka zu reisen und dann immer wieder Abstand genommen, weil wir auf die Sommerferien angewiesen sind und uns unsicher waren, ob das die richtige Reisezeit ist. Dann kam Corona. Im Herbst letzten Jahres befassten wir uns dann konkret damit. Über Tripadvisor fand ich Gihan Tours Sri Lanka und war erstaunt über die vielen exzellenten Bewertungen. Ich nahm Kontakt mit Gihan auf und bat ihn, uns einen Vorschlag für eine 2-wöchige Rundreise zu machen mit Kultur, Natur und Menschen. Gihan reagierte prompt und schlug uns eine Tour vor, über den Süden mit Stopps in Unawatuna und Mirissa, über den Yala-Nationalpark, Ella, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Sigiriya bis Trincomalee, wo wir eine Woche ohne Programm und einfach am Strand verbringen wollten. Der Transfer zurück nach Colombo inkl. einer Übernachtung in Negombo gehörte ebenfalls zur Tour. Und genauso haben wir die Tour gemacht: Kumara, unser Guide und Fahrer, holte uns am Flughafen ab und versorgte uns noch am Flughafen mit Sim-Karten. Wir stiegen in den vollklimatisierten Toyota Minivan, in dem wir reichlich Platz fanden und los ging die Reise. In den zwei Wochen war alles dabei: Vom Trekking im Horton-Plains-Nationalpark über Whale-Watching in Mirissa, eine Zugfahrt von Ella nach Nuwara Eliya und zwei Safaris mit Elefanten, Krokodilen, Wasserbüffeln, Affen, Waranen, Mungos und Kojoten (leider keine Leoparden). Alle kulturellen Highlights, wie der Sigiriya Rock, Anuradhapura und Polunnaruwa (Sri Lanka hat bei der UNESCO acht historische und natürliche Stätten). Traumhafte Strände und sehr sorgfältig ausgesuchte Unterkünfte, die alle sehr, sehr schön waren. Kumara war mehr als ein Guide für uns und wir erfuhren viel über die Menschen in Sri Lanka. Immer wieder hielt er an und versorgte uns mit frischen Kokosnüssen und Leckereien von Straßenständen, die wir unbedingt einmal probieren müssten. Es war einfach genial! "Das beste, was wir bisher gemacht hatten", meinten unsere beiden Teenager. Und dem können sich die Erwachsenen nur anschließen. Zu aktuellen Lage: Natürlich waren auch wir besorgt, nach den Demonstration und Unruhen im Juli, einen Monat vor unseren Abflug. Gihan versicherte uns aber, dass die Lage im Land ruhig ist. Auch andere Reiseberichte gaben uns die Sicherheit nach Sri Lanka zu reisen. Und die Lage war ruhig! Als Touristen haben wir davon nichts mitbekommen. Im Gegensatz zu den Einheimischen, die unter den Preissteigerungen, der Benzinknappheit und den angekündigten Power Cuts leiden müssen. Natürlich leidet auch der Tourismus darunter und das ist sehr schade für die Menschen, die auf das Einkommen angewiesen sind. Also, fahrt nach Sri Lanka! Wo sonst bekommt man mit geringem Reiseaufwand so viel zu sehen? Kultur und Natur. Die Menschen sind äußerst zuvorkommend und freundlich und das Essen unglaublich lecker! Am Ende waren wir froh, dass wir bis auf die Flüge jeden Euro im Land ausgebenen haben, ohne dass ein Reiseveranstalter daran mitverdient hat. Wir können Kumara, den wir als Freund verabschiedet haben, und Gihan Tours als lokalen Veranstalter nur wärmstens empfehlen. Das war eine perfekte Organisation und Begleitung. Über die Empfehlung von Freunden bin ich auf GihanTours gestoßen und kann nur sagen, dass ich super glücklich bin, der Empfehlung nachzukommen und mit Gihan Kontakt aufzu...

Über die Empfehlung von Freunden bin ich auf GihanTours gestoßen und kann nur sagen, dass ich super glücklich bin, der Empfehlung nachzukommen und mit Gihan Kontakt aufzunehmen. Bereits im Vorhinein standen wir in Kontakt und haben zusammen meine Tour durch Sri Lanka geplant. Die Planung verlief absolut reibungslos, die von Gihan vorgeschlagene Route kam meinen Vorstellungen schon sehr nahe und Änderungen waren problemlos und stressfrei möglich. Mein Fahrer Ashen war ein sicherer Fahrer und super freundlich. Wir haben unterwegs viel gelacht und tolle Gespräche gehabt und die Fahrten durch die wunderschöne Landschaft vergingen wie im Flug. Hierbei ist zu erwähnen, dass der Verkehr in Sri Lanka sehr chaotisch ist, ich war also froh, dass ich mich damit nicht auseinandersetzen musste. Das Auto war immer sauber und gut gepflegt und durch die Klimaanlage war es nie zu heiß. Besonders toll war, dass Ashen mir immer wieder tolle Orte abseits der Touristenpfade gezeigt hat und spontane Änderungen am Programm problemlos möglich waren. Meine Zeit in Sri Lanka war ein unvergessliches und wunderschönes Erlebnis und GihanTours sowie Ashen haben einen großen Anteil daran. Auch der Transfer zum Flughafen wurde von GihanTours organisiert und lief wie alles andere völlig problemlos. Letztendlich war das einzige, was ich bereut habe, dass ich nicht noch länger in Sri Lanka geblieben bin. Es gab für beide Kinder Autositze was uns sehr wichtig war. Der Van war sehr komfortabel und es gab genug Platz für uns und unser Gepäck. Auch kurzfristige Änderungen und Wünsche wurden alle umgesetzt. Auch unsere Kinder haben ihn in ihr Herz geschlossen (obwohl sie Heide kein Englisch sprechen) und wir waren alle traurig, als wir Abschied nehmen mussten. Seit 3.5 Wochen sind wir nun in Sri Lanka. Noch zwei Tage, dann reisen wir wieder zurück in die Schweiz. Mit vielen tollen Eindrücken und superschönen Erlebnissen. Für die ersten 10 Tage haben wir eine Rundreise bei Gihan gebucht. Etwas Besseres hätten wir gar nicht tun können! Wir haben ihm per Mail unsere Wünsche bekannt gegeben und er hat uns aufgrund dieser Angaben eine wirklich ganz tolle Rundreise organisiert, die keine Wünsche offen gelassen haben. Gihan hat superschnell reagiert, war äusserst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir können Gihan allen nur bestens empfehlen. Das Auto war grosszügig, sehr geräumig, bequem und blitzsauber. Wir sind fast 1'100 km während dieser 10 Tagen gefahren. Alles verlief ohne Probleme und wir fühlten uns äusserst sicher. Mit unserem Driver Ashen haben wir den besten Driver erhalten, den wir bis anhin überhaupt hatten. Ashen ist ein liebenswerter Mensch, sehr hilfsbereit, nett und lustig. Er hat uns viel über das Land, die Kultur und die Menschen erzählt und uns das Land damit näher gebracht. Wir haben ihn sehr gemocht und wir haben diese 10 Tage mit Ashen sehr genossen. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit zusammen. Auch an dieser Stelle nochmals ganz herzlichen Dank an Gihan und an Ashen. Ihr beide habt uns mit dieser Reise eine unvergessliche Zeit geschenkt, die wir nie vergessen werden. Wenn wir zurück nach Sri Lanka kommen, dann werden wir ohne zu zögern wieder bei Gihan buchen.. und auch Ashen hätten wir von Herze gerne wieder als unseren Driver. ********** We have been in Sri Lanka for 3.5 weeks now. Wir hatten einen Lotto-Sechser mit der Wahl von Gihan Tours. Gihan und Kumara hatten uns mehrere Tage zu den wundervollen Sehenswürdigkeiten begleitet und die Tour ganz nach unseren Wünschen gestaltet. Schon bei der Planung im Vorfeld war Gihan ausserordentlich hilfsbereit und engagiert, antwortet umgehend auf Fragen oder Wünsche. Wir fühlten uns da schon super aufgehoben. Gihan und Kumara sind die besten Reisebegleiter. Man spürte wie sie Ihre Arbeit liebten und sie Freude hatten uns die Reise zurecht zu schneidern. Es machte uns auch unglaublich viel Freude, Sie als unsere Begleiter zu haben. Ihr Einsatz war aussergewöhnlich und sehr gross. Sie unterstützten uns zudem in unseren Charity Projekten und hatten überall voll angepackt. Sie halfen mit der Organisation und der Ausrüstung von Schulmaterial an Schulklassen wo sie nur konnten. Wir sind Gihan und Kumara so dankbar, dass Sie uns in unserem Herzensprojekt in sämtlichen Belangen unterstützten. Sie wurden Teil davon. Es machte einfach nur Freude!
