Those of us who choose a 20-22 hour day to make the trip from Jerusalem to Petra and return again know that it is a huge commitment. When Tourist Israel promises about 4 hours at Petra, they are overpromising. Still, I’d give the actual experience 4-5 stars because it is a visit to a UNESCO world heritage site. And, the phenomenal engineering and artistic genius is breathtaking. The only concern is their animal welfare practices. Even the border crossing only diminishes the score by one or two stars. I give this trip one star because of the frightening lack of safety exercised by the Israel tourist provider; the driver who picked us up at 3am and drove for 5 hours to the border was the same one who drove us back to Jerusalem between 8pm and 1am (both absolutely full - no spare seats). What’s worse - he intimidated passengers as he spoke aggressively in Russian to us, allocating seats with anger and a lack of grace. Not one thank you all day. But this would not reduce the score as far as it has; he was genuinely unsafe - a dangerous driver who skidded through corners, overtook unsafely, wandered onto oncoming traffic because he couldn’t keep a straight driving line (I include a picture taken of the bus being 3/4 on the other side of the road - all the while while we were speeding through a roadworks site. And all the way, he talked loudly to a companion sitting at the very front, making any sleep impossible for the front half of the boss. Tourism Israel - you need to fix this. I have never written such a negative reviewDaniel was a great guide. We spent a lot of time at The dead sea which is a must. There was an avalanche which kept us from masada at first. The dead sea is def better after masada because of the heat. Daniel made it work great! bring water for sure. Masada was interesting and extremely historic.
