Bait Al Zubair is a heritage and cultural centre that opened its carved wooden doors to the public in 1998. It is funded by its founders, the Zubair family. The centre displays the family’s collection of Omani artefacts, which is considered to be the finest that is privately owned. With its growing collection, Bait al Zubair now houses one of the largest heritage and permanent art collections in the country and serves as a real window on Oman’s rich heritage and culture.

We went on a half-day private tour in Muscat and found it a very convenient and efficient way to get to know some of the most important landmarks of Oman’s capital city in a short time. The tour includes visits to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera House, the fish and vegetable markets, the Muttrah Souq and the Bait Al Zubair Museum. The Mosque is a must, and the way we felt welcome in spite of our different beliefs was an unforgettable experience. A special word of praise to our guide, Saif – may God bless him – for his knowledge, patience and friendly advice. We strongly recommend this tour, specially if Saif is your guide! I was with Saif. It was refreshing to see someone so happy, kind and so polite. His English was perfect and he was so proud to show me his city. To be honest: it was sooo hot and humid, it was a heavy sightseeing but he helped me through everything. At the opera house you have to buy tickets to get inside. But I only had 1 wish: just to make quick 2 pictures of inside. He arranged everything for me and I didn’t have to buy a ticket. How cool! The knowledge, communication and care of Saif our Tour Guide/Driver was outstanding. Saif's English language skills were great and the rapport he built with us and others at every venue is to be commended. He not only showed us the sites, but helped us communicate with vendors, volunteers, store holders at all venues. The whole tour was wonderful, Saif was the key. He was engaging everywhere from the Fish Markets to the Museum and the patient explanations and respect and care he showed us was the best we've had on a 3 month tour across multiple countries. The tour of the Mosque was inspiring, and the exposure to culture at every venue was wonderful. We could have stayed longer.The experience was awesome. It was a great city tour and I enjoyed it thru and it was informative. I was happy with the trip and the guide Bu Mashari was helpful and extremely accommodating.
