What to expect
The first part of our excursion begins down in the mouth of the canyon along the edge of the river. As we ride we will have the opportunity to cross the river at several points which is always great fun! Throughout the ride those who wish to have some exciting gallops will have several opportunities to do so.
After this rest stop we continue on our trusty steeds up-and-out of the canyon until reaching it's spectacular cliffs. Here we make a 20 minute pause break in order to take some completely spectacular photos. It is also here that whoever wishes to will have the opportunity to rappel off the sheer 150 foot-high cliff faces!
Then we continue over the plains and amongst the cattle. After a short while we reach a further edge of the canyon and begin a 40 minute descent back down to it's rocky bottom, where we once again find the winding river named La Virgen which we will continue to cross at several more points.
For the grand finale the ladies back at the ranch will have ready for us one of the most delicious organic ranch-style meals that you will ever experience. Guaranteed to be one of the best meals you can possibly find in San Miguel de Allende!

Amazing experience. The horses, the cowboys, the trail leader, the food, everything was perfect. I was with my two kids (10 and 7 years) and they did well. Perfect family time.

The trail was rocky and going uphill half the time and downhill the other half. You're actually on the horse for 2.5 hours. I'm not sure about other people but that was too much for me to handle. My entire body was aching after this tour. I held on to the saddle so tightly that even my fingers were sore. The guide will take many pictures of the group and will share them with you if you pay $25. I suggest you take your own photos -although that said, it is very difficult to take photos since the path was not an easy one. The lunch tasted good at the time but later that evening, my husband was purging out of both ends. Timing-wise, we were able to link it to the lunch. The sun was extremely strong, be sure to cover everything. I had a few small parts of my neck exposed and was terribly burned after. All in all, I'd say this is a rugged tour with very little interaction with the guide outside of the horseback riding lesson provided. The view from the top of the canyon was gorgeous but if I could go back in time I would not take this tour because it was a bit too intense for my husband and I.We had a fantastic time on our half day horseback riding adventure! Our guide Monique was excellent and all of the cowboys who helped guide the ride were awesome. After we finished we had a delicious fresh lunch at the ranch. Would highly recommend it!!
