Its main attraction is the volcano that bears its name which in Spanish means 'moon neck' given because of the conical shape of the crater. Visitors can discover different species of plants and animals like: wolves, rabbits, bears, condors, and among others that live in that territory.

Walk To The José Rivas Refuge (4864 Masl): Since the 70s, this refuge has been a welcoming place for professional mountaineers and amateurs coming to visit the Cotopaxi Volcano. What a great tour, would highly recommend this to anyone that visits Quito. Thanks Carlos & Mauricio for a memory we will never forget. One tip which might be useful: bring gloves, it can get extremely cold up there so come prepared!

Visiting Cotopaxi and hiking to the base camp was awesome! The park is beautiful:) Jacqui was a great tour guide, sharing lots of interesting facts about Ecuador, telling the traditional stories about the volcanos, and sheltering at the base camp together after weathering the more the normal rain/wind/snow! Also thank you to Carlos, our driver, I had fun off-roading the dirt trails in the park.
