This church devoted to the virgin Mary is one of the few buildings that survived the world famous 1755 earthquake and stands overlooking the Infante Dom Henrique square, near your meeting point.

This 18th century church is devoted to Saint Anthony, holding a breathtaking carved gold-plated woodwork is a magnificent example of Baroque style of architecture.
Pass By: Praça das Armas, 8600-523 Lagos, Portugal
This square is famous for its old city entrance gate build in the 16th century's expansion wall project attributed to D.João III.
Pass By: Sculpture of Dom Sebastiao, Lagos Portugal
This statue depicts Dom Sebastian, a boy King famous for its historical mistake of setting off into a North African crusade resulting in is death and the subsequent rise to the Portuguese throne of the Spanish Habsburg Kings.

LOL. He even toured us longer as he did not have another tour right after ours. A great afternoon was had by all. Eight of us met Joao in the Plaça Infante Dom Henrique. He led us out of the town wall for our first experience. The other three were inside the wall. We experienced good food, good drink, and great conversations. Joao was fun to talk with, and he took us to some places I’d likely not visit otherwise. I don’t want to go into too much detail about the food because much of the fun was the surprise of the different foods. No, I didn’t enjoy them all, but I tasted food that pushed my boundaries a bit, and that was fun in itself! We took this tour with friends, and also met two other couples who were fun. It was a birthday celebration for one of us, and that birthday will not soon be forgotten! Food, drink, a bit of walking and talking - it was great fun and a memorable evening.I was so impressed by the variety of tasty food we tried! I consider myself a pretty avid seafood fan and tried many new things on this tour. The tour was also a great introduction to some excellent off the beaten trail restuarants. Jaoi greeted us at the time & place advertised & was an engaging host for the tour. Took us to venues we would not have entered & encouraged us to try foods that were local & traditional. Okay not all to our taste but that’s part of the fun. The route & venue guided us for further culinary expeditions as our holiday progressed. Highly recommend if you want something different & like lots of useful information. We walked with others we had never met before but we all got on great. Thank you 👍
