2 Hour Big 5 Walker Bay Sea Safari
On our Big 5 Sea Safari we are targeting Whales, Dolphin, Seals, Penguin and Marine Birds. Trips run 10am & 1pm Weather and Passenger Dependent - Min 8 - Max of 25 passengers!
Join the Ivanhoe team for what will undoubtedly be a memorable 2hr Big 5 Sea Safari.
Our goal is to target Walker Bay's Big 5, Whale, Dolphin, Seal, Penguin and Marine birds.
We depart from the harbor of Gansbaai and cruise along the scenic route passing
the cliffs of De Kelders and De Platt Beach. Observe the stunning coast line, contrasting white beach's with the blue skies and chameleon waters that stretch for miles from Gansbaai to Hermanus, we then set course and head out into the middle of the bay in search of our Big 5.
On your journey our crew will educate you on all aspects of marine life, with a qualifying marine biologist and a skipper with over 15yrs experience there is a wealth of knowledge for you to tap. No trip is the same and we can never guarantee what you will see, we hope to spot our local Big 5, but there is also so much more marine mammal and bird life on offer.

We booked a Marine big 5 safari since they confirmed it would be possible to se whales and dolphins even in december. Conversely, at the beginning of the boat trip they told us that spotting more than birds and seals would be very improbable. At the end we didn't seen anything more than seals and...
We booked a Marine big 5 safari since they confirmed it would be possible to se whales and dolphins even in december. Conversely, at the beginning of the boat trip they told us that spotting more than birds and seals would be very improbable. At the end we didn't seen anything more than seals and penguins. They gave us a voucher saying that nature can not be foreseen but they already knew the reality and still they gave us wrong information. Being on a trip we will not be able to come back in another season to use the voucher so we preferred to be partially refunded or, even better, be given the right information before booking.Wonderful big 5 Sea Safari experience. It was a lovely day on the ocean filled with education and sightings of dolphins and seals. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. Will definitely make use of you guys again. We were in Hermanus at the start of January and were aware that many of the whales had migrated so we wouldn’t get the big whale spotting experience that you get at other times of the year. However, we did the Big 5 Sea Safari and were told there was a good chance we’d see whales, dolphins, penguins, sharks and seals. Whilst we did see some wildlife from afar, we thought the experience wasn’t really what they sold it as. For example, on the boat we asked how often they see sharks and were told three times a year. It was a pleasant few hours along the coast, but wasn’t worth the 52 GBP / 950 ZAR that it’s sold at.Wow....what a morning! Perfect number of passengers on the boat so no over-crowding and able to take great photo's. Very informative crew.....professional and knowledgeable. I went with a viewpoint that if we see wildlife, we'll be lucky. The Walker Bay coastline is absolutely exquisite including the Klipkat Cave. We were very fortunate and privileged to see 2 blydes whales, a large pod of playful dolphins, african penguins, seals and an abundance of wild birds. I would not hesitate to recommend Ivanhoe Sea Safari's! A wonderfulFrom the time of booking until the trip ended it was great in every way. The trip lasted for 2 hrs wich is perfect with kids. Proffesional, great knowledge of the surroundings, the marine life and not least the well beeing of the different species! Highly recommended
