Booked a trip with Ivanhoe for an afternoon tour. The trip kept getting put off and eventually settled for an early morning one that my 6 year old was not keen on but she loves whales. While boarding overheard a crew member say that they were out the day before which was ordinary after been cancelled on twice already! The tour was so disappointing as they spent the first 1.25hrs looking at seals and dolphins which were everywhere and then had no time to look for whales. No whales!!!!

Great trip today, excellent safety briefing (shame all the guests didn’t listen), advised from the outset we might only see birds & seals and we did. Unfortunately there was a technical glitch but the great crew kept everyone informed & got everyone back in safely. Highly recommend.

2h trip to see seals and if you get lucky, more marine life The employees don’t seem very motivated and seem to avoid interaction Not really worth it - there are other places where you can get the same for less than half of the price Would not do it again

Very nice tour with perfect weather. We saw seals, dolphins and even a whale. Nice professional crew and a modern boat.

We went with the family and we saw some amazing whale activity. The crew did their best to help us have a good experience. It was good organized and we all enjoyed the experience!

Was quite interesting.A bit long for some people who showed signs of seasickness.Must be because of the strong winds.Sea life was a bit shy it seems..but with nature you are always at risk of not knowing what you will see .

Great! Saw more whales than I have ever seen on a tour. Including multiple breaches! 10 out of 10 world recommend.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable , although a windy day boat was fine and comfortable, as on any tour to see wild mammals you never know if you would actually get to see any , the first 15 minutes all we saw was cormorants then we saw a whale briefly than another and another, so day was going well then two amazing sun fish (moon fish) then the highlight of the trip a pod of common dolphins almost touching the boat probably over a thousand dolphins racing around the boat and showing off their speed and gracefulness then some seals joined in on the party with a few penguins tagging along to see what was happening, all in all a very good experience

We knew it was not main whale season and was offered the sea safari and advised that whales are not always seen on trips, but fortunately we had mother nature on our side for the day. It was lovely weather, flat calm water. We saw two Brydes whales, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the interaction of the dolphins around the boat and also saw other sea life, like birds, penguins and seals (lots of) Skipper and the guide very attentive to passengers questions and personal thanks to Juri to playing close attention to our kids, to make sure they are safe. We will definitely be coming back during main whale season.

We booked a Marine big 5 safari since they confirmed it would be possible to se whales and dolphins even in december. Conversely, at the beginning of the boat trip they told us that spotting more than birds and seals would be very improbable. At the end we didn't seen anything more than seals and penguins. They gave us a voucher saying that nature can not be foreseen but they already knew the reality and still they gave us wrong information. Being on a trip we will not be able to come back in another season to use the voucher so we preferred to be partially refunded or, even better, be given the right information before booking.

We were in Hermanus at the start of January and were aware that many of the whales had migrated so we wouldn’t get the big whale spotting experience that you get at other times of the year. However, we did the Big 5 Sea Safari and were told there was a good chance we’d see whales, dolphins, penguins, sharks and seals. Whilst we did see some wildlife from afar, we thought the experience wasn’t really what they sold it as. For example, on the boat we asked how often they see sharks and were told three times a year. It was a pleasant few hours along the coast, but wasn’t worth the 52 GBP / 950 ZAR that it’s sold at.

Wow....what a morning! Perfect number of passengers on the boat so no over-crowding and able to take great photo's. Very informative crew.....professional and knowledgeable. I went with a viewpoint that if we see wildlife, we'll be lucky. The Walker Bay coastline is absolutely exquisite including the Klipkat Cave. We were very fortunate and privileged to see 2 blydes whales, a large pod of playful dolphins, african penguins, seals and an abundance of wild birds. I would not hesitate to recommend Ivanhoe Sea Safari's! A wonderful

From the time of booking until the trip ended it was great in every way. The trip lasted for 2 hrs wich is perfect with kids. Proffesional, great knowledge of the surroundings, the marine life and not least the well beeing of the different species! Highly recommended

Really friendly. Really informative. Saw southern rights, seals and birds. We were just out of season but still saw whales.
