The wine was first commercialized and next shipped in the traditional Rabelo boat to remain aging in Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river in Porto. In the village of Pinhão we stop for a 1h river cruise as well as we have lunch at a traditional local restaurant.

The visit is usually done by the owner of the property himself while he tells you more about the production and the flavors of its wines.

Whole day was absolutely brilliant. Our small group worked well. Our guide Pedro did a terrific job - both on the driving and being enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

Booked through Viator, this was a Oporto Road Trips tour. The guide, "Tuna" (his surname) was fantastic. It was an educational and fun experience. We heard about history, the vegetation, the work that goes into the wine making and how soap contributed to a major change in Portugal. Wine tasting at 2 places did not include the cheese spread that other tables did, which was a little odd. I would have preferred that to the typical Portuguese restaurant experience, but that's because I don't eat meat. I'm sure the other group members would not agree. Lunch was a nice opportunity to visit and hear more about Portuguese culture. Loved the boat ride. Perfect length of time. Outstanding experience. Our tour guide Brahim was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful! We had a wonderful time taking in the gorgeous scenery while learning and enjoying delicious food, wine and great company! I would definitely do this tour again!!

First vineyard family run with local person giving tour, followed by traditional lunch in a family restaurant and relaxing boat trip, second larger vineyard with very knowledgeable guide. Tiago was a great host of our tour. Loved the "fun facts" he shared of the area and history of Portugal. We also really enjoyed the time at the two wineries we visited as they were small and intimate. The hosts there made the experiences engaging. I would say that the river cruise portion was not worth it and would have rather enjoyed the 3 winery tour instead. Our party expected some kind of commentary while aboard but it was just a short ride up and down the river. The views were MUCH better from the higher vantage point we stopped at. Overall, the experience was fun and a highlight of our trip! This was a great way to spend our day and see the valley. I liked the small group and our guide/driver Luis took care of all our needs. Many thanks! Pam and Lynne
