Archaeologist-Led Cañada de La Virgen Pyramid Tour
Overview
I am a graduate of Louisiana State University and federally licensed tour guide. This special tour includes years of documented legends, wisdom & memories of the elders of the ranch communities on and around the historic location. You will hear about each place and its cultural significance as you journey along the path the ancients took to reach the pyramid.
I've taken 20, 000+ people on tours since the site opened to the public in 2011. My passion is relating information that is just coming to light in an area recently investigated in an enjoyable way. I hope to see you soon.

Stop At: Canada de la Virgen, San Miguel de Allende Mexico
The best way to visit the Cañada de la Virgen is with an expert guide. Along the way, Albert will share his knowledge of cultures of the Bajio region, including the Otomi people and other Mesoamerican cultures. After visiting the Welcome Center, we will walk a total of approximately 3 kilometers (2 miles) together, taking the same path as the ancients. Albert will show you recent discoveries at the archaeological site and you’ll be able to climb to the top of the pyramid. Along the way, you will see the impressive landscapes as your mind goes on a journey. You will leave with a more thorough knowledge of this wonderful, historical site.

Our guide, Albert Coffee, has set the bar high. He is knows his subject, he is great at his job, he's the best. It was the best tour! We learned as much as we could possibly pack in the 3+ hours. Highly recommend this Tour with Albert Coffee.

A follow student arranged this trip on my final full day in San Miguel de Allende. I have to admit after a month of exploring every nook and cranny I was a touch reluctant. That would have been a huge lapse in judgement. This tour was brilliant. From being picked up by José on the bus to our return it was excellent. I cannot say enough about our host/guide Albert. This guy knows his stuff, which is understandable. He however, was able to talk for a few hours and keep it interesting and informative, which is a real skill. He did a great justice to the history and culture of the people who called this place home centuries ago. It was a great hike and the pace was just right throughout the morning. At this point masks are required on the site, which I was quite comfortable with and hand sanitizer was also in use. One tip that perhaps was not too clear is bags of any kind are not allowed. Not a big deal if you plan accordingly.I was so glad that we chose Albert to be our guide! There couldn’t be anyone more knowledgeable than he. He answered every question nothing stumped him. He is a true expert of the area. Money well spent!

This tour is a must see for all San Miguel visitors, but be sure to hire Albert as your guide.

Very interesting tour led by LSU grad with an immense knowledge of the ancient civilizations that lived throughout the continent. The pyramid and surrounding areas are well preserved and the tour of the site ends with a tour of the artifacts in the museum. This tour was very worthwhile and we would highly recommend. The photo opportunities are also very nice! You also have the opportunity for a lunch at a nearby working ranch which was very good and transportation was provided back to our airbnb at the end. Ask about that when you reserve your tours.
