We will visit the Amber Museum, an excellent example of Victorian architecture that houses a unique collection of valuable samples of Dominican amber. Experts say that this amber, known to be the most transparent in the world, qualifies as semi-precious. Formed from tree sap that has hardened over millions of years, capturing many plant and insect fossils. We will also have a stop at the Rom factory, cigar factory, Calle de la Sombrera, Calle de la Chichigua, Calle Rosada, or Paseo de Doña Blanca, Shopping Surbenir, Historic Center, San Felipe Fortress, The panoramic view, The Cathedral, Restaurant and beach. We will also show you the Residential with a beautiful house with a panoramic view and the beach and if you want to go to a restaurant to eat Dominican or foreign automatic food, we can also take you

They will have the opportunity to see and enjoy some of the best ROMs in the world made with our rod, as well as try 8 different types of ROMs. After they leave the ROM museum, they can buy ROMs in the shop inside the factory.
Stop At: Puerto Plata Province, Puerto Plata Province, Dominican Republic
This is a great choice for first-time visitors to Puerto Plata. Swap noisy and crowded sightseeing buses for a private tour experience. Travel between dispersed sites in a private air-conditioned vehicle and learn about the history and culture of Puerto Plata. We were looking forward to meeting Rigo for our tour of Puerto Plata from our arrival in Amber Cover cruise terminal. Let me tell you, our experience with Rigo and the places we visited FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. Communication was very easy prior to our arrival to Puerto Plata. Rigo frequently texted us for confirmation on the cost and the places we could go on our tour. Compared to some other excursions we have booked, we had no concerns with what our experience would look like once we got to Puerto Plata. We were one of four ships in Puerto Plata that day so we were expecting to be crowded the whole day. However with Rigo's expertise, he was able to guide us to the hot spots all before the crowds arrived. We made it to the cable car, downtown area for some shopping (amber, jewelry, & cigars) as well as an impromptu stop at the fire department. Along the way, Rigo carefully coordinated photos of our family and we look back almost daily just to remember how much we enjoyed our visit with Rigo in Puerto Platea We always felt like we were VIP's and our safety was never a concern. Our 7-year old son really took a liking to Rigo and it was so cool to see how Rigo would stop traffic or make sure our street crossings were 100% safe. Rigo is top notch and with a return trip planned to Amber Cove in 2024, we will be booking with him again. DON'T MISS OUT!!Trek161260

The only drawback is that they made us wait 45 minutes at the port, saying that some people were missing. Overall it was a decent tour and our tour guide, Marleny, was great. However, there were two major issues we encountered. Directions where to meet our tour guide were lacking. The directions read verbatim as follows " When you come outside of the ship pass the duty free and the shopping after the shopping you are going to see the bus station inside the port on the left side of bus station you going to see men with green shirt asking for marleny she will be there weithin for you the pick up will be 9:15am inside the port amber cove remenber asking for marleny". Problem - there were many men in green shirts. When asked for Marleny, they claimed not to know who she was or didn't understand the directions I was given. One who pretended to know, directed out of the port terminal and on what felt like a 3 mile hike. Once we reached a point were someone was able to help us, he called the tour company and Marleny came to pick us up. Issue # 2 - it is advertised as "Travel between dispersed sites in a private air-conditioned vehicle". Once we reached the Puerto Plata Province, it was a walking tour extending over 2 and one-half hours of walking.Joe_S

Knowledgeable driver. Shared a lot of info about the city etc. pick up was easy right outside of the cruise port. Nice clean AC van. Rigo help to take great photos.

Rigo was amazing! He took so much extra time with us, sharing wonderful information about his home- taking us to more than just touristy places. Would highly recommend him!
