Lunch served at the base for rappelling was delicious. Slow cooked chicken with rice, beans, and plantains. The rappel tour was much fun. Totally safe for even the most novice. Consider taking a change of dry clothes should it NOT be raining when you finish the tour.So much fun for those of you who are not afraid to try something exciting! It was a great experience with wonderful and funny guides. The tour was something I had never experienced before and it was exhilarating!

We arranged the combo tour of ziplining and waterfall rappelling...amazing! We started our morning with the ziplining with SkyTram that took us to the top of the rainforest canopy where we ziplined back-and-forth down to the base on (I believe) 7 or 8 cables. Although I have ziplined in other locations during other trips to Costa Rica, this was the most-exhilarating and lengthy ziplining that I have ever experienced. I can honestly say that the ziplining alone was satisfying enough for most travelers for one day. However, after we were done ziplining...we were driven back to PureTrek for a bite to eat before we set off to do waterfall rappelling. Lunch was local flavor, light, and delicious! On our way to start our adventure in rappelling, one of our guides spotted a sloth in a tree, so we were able to see him (or did he see us?). Our first rappel was about 120 feet! Although I had experience rappelling from when I served in the Army (I believe it was the Continental Army at this point in my memory), I can tell you that you do not need to have ANY experience rappelling to enjoy this adventure! There are plenty of safety measures and every single one of our guides was friendly, encouraging, and extremely knowledgeable and skilled at helping everyone enjoy their adventure! When my wife and I came here in 2005, we brought our young children (5 and 7 at the time) and they went down the rappel lines with a guide with absolutely no problems. I cannot rave about PureTrek enough! I loved it and can’t wait to return! Pura Vida!Zip-lining was very fun and exciting the staff was very attentive and caring. My family of 3 did the waterfall canyon rappelling. Let me note we took my 9 year old daugher to do this! It was scary as hell the first one you go down but it was the best fun ever! We did not want this day to end at all. We still talk about it and would recommend for sure. The guides were amazing with my daughter when she got scared and they took such good care of her. Probably one of the best excursions I have ever been on! I was so hesitant to do this as I was afraid we would all back out. But reviews and talking to booking made me feel we could do it. So glad we did. If in doubt now, book it and you will be happy you did! Not gonna lie though that first one scares the hell out of ya!Highlight of our stay in La Fortuna! Highlight of our stay in La Fortuna! I made the mistake of booking this excursion for February 2 instead of March 2, and the team was so helpful and kind about helping me rebook to the correct date. The zip lines are an unforgettable Costa Rican experience, with volcano and lake views! A must do for any age. Great photos as well, and the opportunity to rent a helmet-mounted Go Pro. Shoutout to Juan and Jonathan! They had a great sense of humor. The Waterfall Rappelling took our breath away! The guides did a great job helping those in our group who were nervous to feel comfortable and make it down all four descents. They had us laughing the whole time! The bonus “monkey drop” was unexpected and exciting! You will get SOAKED so prepare for that. This whole thing was exhilarating and I’ll never forget it. Take a waterproof pouch for your phone, so that your group can take turns filming each other from the bottom of each descent - we missed out big time. It’s unfortunate that if you buy their photos you have to sort through all of the hundreds taken that day of everyone to find the ones you’re in, but that’s a minor complaint. Lunch was great, and lockers were provided at both activities!
