Ride Europe’s second highest railway and the highest open-air railway of the continent – the Gornergrat cog wheel train – up to the 10, 134 ft / 3089 meter Gornergrat with incredible views of the Matterhorn accompanying you most of the way.
Walk up to the 360 degree platform area where you see over 29 of the 79 alpine peaks higher than 4000 meters/13, 123 ft, including the massive Matterhorn.
Enjoy a 1-2 hour guided hike along signposted trails through an alpine nature reserve with stunning Matterhorn views mirrored in pristine alpine lakes.

Our day trip with Jack was an absolute blast. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the routes and hikes we wanted to take. Jack was very courteous and patient with us as we we’re trying to find our way through Zermatt and its surroundings. It was so helpful to have someone so fit for the job and accomplish so much in one day. We took best shots of the Matterhorn and other 4K+ peaks. Our family had a great time on this tour. Pete was wonderful!! He communicated with me a couple days before. He was on time, had a plan. We got off the train and he took us away from the crowd immediately. We were the only ones up at the viewing platform for at least 15 minutes. He took us through the visitor center, and then took us in a nice hike down to the next train stop. We got back on the train, stopped at the next stop and he took us on a nice easy hike. We ended at a wonderful restaurant with live music. He made sure we got a table (he knows everyone!!) and then he left. Highly recommend this tour if you don’t want to think about what to do and where to go. Pete did it all for us and made it a relaxing, beautiful day.Petr was excellent. Enjoyed our day. My wife and I had a wonderful day with Luca in Zermat. We went up the Gornergrat and hiked down. He was attentive to our physical abilities and selected routes that were appropriate . He was fun to be with and informative about local and Swiss history. We also had a great lunch. Overall we couldn’t be happier with our day with him and would recommend him and Echo tours without hesitation.Guide’s knowledge of the area- great luncheon experience - trains were great- very courteous and helpful and changed his routine to accommodate our needs and desires!
