It was our first time on a City Unscripted tour, and in fact our very first private food tour experience. I must say it was an excellent experience, one of the best parts of our Yokohama trip. After we booked the tour via City Unscripted, we were asked to fill in a questionnaire to indicate our preference, then a Yokohama local tour guide, Hiro, was soon assigned to contact with us. Hiro was a Japanese who spoke and wrote English very well. Based on our preference, Hiro had drafted a plan of the food tour that suited our interest in advance of our Yokohama trip. Based on our feedback, all changes to the plan were well communicated with us beforehand. Our City Unscripted food tour was on the first day of our 4 days Yokohama trip. During the tour, Hiro led us to enjoy some tasty Japanese food. Since it was a Yokohama local tour, Hiro also prepared some presentation slides to tell us more about the history of Yokohama. Our guide had prepared well for our tour. Knowing that we would visit some of the tourist spots in Yokohama for the following days, Hiro was also kind enough to teach us the transportation means to the spots as well as how to purchase entrance tickets for the spots. Our guide’s support didn’t end after the tour, Hiro continuously provided us with support throughout the rest of our trip. He stayed in contact with us, answered our questions when we need, which was very helpful. It was a very special and excellent food tour experience. We were glad to have Hiro from City Unscripted as our guide in Yokohama. We were completely delighted with this tour! Our guide seemed like a dear friend, warm and fun to be with. We were completely delighted with this tour! Our guide seemed like a dear friend, warm and fun to be with. She customized the tour according to our interests, giving us a thorough view of Yokohama and the city life. We enjoyed local foods in a boisterous market setting, including fresh strawberries on a stick. We strolled the gardens and park areas, making a big circle around the waterfront area, returning to our cruise ship with fond memories of our Yokohama experience, thanks to our guide Estela! The tour was canceled as they could not accommodate us and tried to reschedule it. I expect a refund.

We wanted to eat authentic Japanese food in local non tourist places and we did. Our guide Yuko contacted directly to ask what we wanted to focus on, and designed the itinerary so we went to a variety of places, including a second floor restaurant where we had grilled eel, a conveyor belt sushi place, a Chinese restaurant where we learned that gyoza are actually Chinese in origin. A satisfying, not to mention filling food tour.We had a lovely tour of Yokohama with Hiroshi, our guide. We toured much of the city center and did a lot of walking. We worked up an appetite and ended the tour at a wonderful sushi restaurant, Sushi Ebihara, that Hiroshi recommended. It was superb!!!
