Visit Snow Castle and Fish Plant - we didn't visit the snow castle or the fish plant
Up close photography of boat houses - no close up photography of the boat houses, they were just dots on the other side of the lake.
Learn the history about Great Slave Lake and the local residents that call it home - no history of either was given. Taste some of Great Slave Lake smoked fish from fish plant - nope it didn't happen. we never went to a fish plant and certainly never got to taste any fish. Absorb some knowledge from local fisherman on how they manage to catch some of the world largest fish in extreme cold temperatures from fully frozen thick ice on Great Slave Lake. - Didn't happen. At the fish market you will have opportunity to shop fresh fish and smoked fish from Great Slave Lake - again it didn't happen. At the end of tour your driver/guide will drop you off at hotel.
We were taken to 2 gift shops in the old town as I believe the driver was receiving commission on anything that we bought. The tour only lasted 1½ hours. It was a complete waste of 177. We are going to Las Vegas next year and I was looking at the trips available through Viator but to be honest if this is the quality of the trips I think I will shop elsewhere. Very, very disappointed.

We would like to give ten stars if we are allowed by Tripadvisor. 😊 We had a great time from this tour. Arctic Tours Canada is a well-known tour company in Yellowknife with great reputation for their tour packages and tour operation. I found them on line decided booking two tours with them after reading so many great reviews about Arctic Tours Canada. From the very beginning we contacted them on the phone in the USA till the day we joined this tour and another snowmobile tour, everything was managed in caring and professional manner. Not jus that, I appreciate their website designed with high security so we didn’t worry a bit about our credit card information would be stolen during the data transferring. You would be surprised that not all tour companies are taking ID theft issue seriously. Not sure about another viewer’s experience, they got their tour package from Viator, and Viator could had contract this tour with one of many tour companies in local Yellowknife. Their experience was totally opposite from our experience. I doubt if we are reviewing the same company? From beginning till saying good bye, we were so impressed by how eager the tour guide and tour operator wanted to share with us their pride of living in Yellowknife, how eager they wanted us to be happy, and how much they appreciated we visited them knowing we came from far away. For ice road, because we love taking photos, we stopped at few places and spent lots of time on ice road so we could have photos from right lighting and good angles. Later tour guide explained us in detail about ice road and shared stories how local people traveled during winter on this road. He was super friendly, had never pushed us to get back to van, he just waited patiently until we were satisfied with many photos of the Great Slave lake and boat houses. it was really “WOW “time for us. We had learned how local people live, their culture, the Dimond mine and how local people got to Dimond mine by small flight. He took us to the small villages, and the top of the hill to see the entire lake and Yellowknife area. It was cold but a beautiful day! We had visited snow castle, again, our tour guide made us so happy help taking many photos for us. Because we had brought the tickets in advance, we got to see the inside and enjoyed the live music playing by the band. There were so many kids and parents inside the snow castle, everyone was excited! After snow castle, our friendly our guide dropped us at our hotel. For entire trip, we were never taken to the gift shops. Highly recommend this company. TEN STARS!!!This was an interesting tour. We went on the ice road and to the indigenous community of Dettah. It was fun and informative
