Our guide, Francisco (the younger!), picked us up at our hotel in a very nice van. On the way out of Zihuatenejo he gave us detailed history of the area and the small towns we passed through. We stopped in a small town for their special cookies and coffee before heading to the museum and archeological site. He gave a very in-depth tour of the museum, archeological site and we also learned a lot about the agriculture of the area. The tour finishes up at a small traditional town where the discoverer of the archeological site showed us his private collection of artifacts. Lunch on the way back to zihua was one of the best meals we had all week. Fantastic day! Highly recommend as a way to learn about the history of the area.We had a wonderful tour led by Ranulfo- Captain Ran! This was our last full day in the Ixtapa area. The kids were tired... Our tour guide, Frank, was very friendly and very very knowledgeable. Lots of very interesting history of pre-spanish Mexico. The museum was very interesting, and Frank's knowledge of the temples and local region was extensive. The restaurant we went to for lunch (included) was very authentic and had some food that we had never had. Total time was a little over 4 hours from our hotel and back. It probably would have been a little longer but our kids were tired so Frank modified it a bit for us...Pablo was an excellent tour guide. His historical knowledge made the archaeological tour come to life! Pablo was respectful and humorous, also.
