Wine & more Tour , private guided wine tour from ROVINJ & PULA to wine cellars
Overview
Come and join us on the tour of the wineries of Istria, Croatia. We will take you to some of the most beautiful wine cellars in Istria, tasting up to 5 wines in each winery and enjoying some breathtaking views of Istrian countryside. Our groups are small, up to 8 people, giving the "private" tour feel. The pick up will be at your accommodation and the tour lasts up to 7 hours. The wines tasted at the wineries are all representative of the area of ISTRIA, so red wines are made from Teran, Refosk, Merlot and other red grape varieties. You’ll also have the opportunity of tasting a Malvazija Istarska at each winery.

What to expect
Our tour will start with the complmetary pick up at your accommdation. We will then continue to our first vinery to have the first wine tasting session. The seconf vinry will be a short drive away / approx 30 to 45 min/ through the beautiful Istrian countyside. on our arrival we will have a tour of the cellar and the wine tasting with some appetizers. We will then continue to our last vinery. Durnig the short drive you will be able to see smoe great views of vineyards, medieval towns and Adriatic sea. At the last vinery we will have a great local lunch.

10 am
The first winery is Matosevic or Dobravac Wines, where we will start with our first tasting of 5 different wines and enjoy a light snack of local ham /istrian prosciutto/ and cheese.
11:30 am
At the second winery, Trapan or Meneghetti wines, you’ll see the cellars that have been in the family for over 100 years and learn more Malvazija Istriana and Teran wines.
13 am
At the third winery, San Tomaso, it’ll be time to learn about wine & food pairing. So after briefly enjoying the views of the beautiful Istrian countryside and the cellars we will make ourselves comfortable in the winery „locanda“ for a typical Istrian meal consisting of starters (local produce /cheese, prosciutto, salami & bread with olive oil), some lovely home-made pasta and finally finish off with a desert – all accompanied by a wine tasting of the winery’s fine selection of wines.

We can highly recommend this tour, Alen was our guide and he had the perfect combination of knowledge, humour and friendliness to make the entire experience just perfect. We toured three different wineries, one which also produced olive oil. At each we had a snacks (referred to by Alen as ‘light lunch’ - our advice, skip breakfast). The story of Istria, of the primary grapes and the differences between each winery, their location and techniques was fascinating. Alen’s knowledge of Croatia is deep and delivered with passion. The fact he can speak about 7 languages is a testament to his abilities. In all we tasted about 14 different wines, with no limit on how much we could drink or eat. This tour was indeed a treat! It was just my husband and me, and Alan, our tour guide—so yes, a private tour. Alan, who is very knowledgable about wines himself, selected 3 small wineries for our day. At each winery, the owner shared the attributes of his/her various wines, poured generous servings of each, and offered beautiful platters of food. Alan loves Istria and it shows in his tales of the countryside and people. You come away with an understanding of why Istria and its people are so special. My wife and I booked this tour (full day, three wineries) thinking it would be a small tour bus group. It is actually truly private, just the two of us driven around in a regular car! Our tour guide was Alen. Great guy. Every wine tasting also included food - the pictured charcuterie plate was at the first winery, the beef tartare was one of several small courses at the third (which also included a tour of the facility.) Almost all the wines were very good, and we brought back almost a case! There is *a lot* of wine here; we probably drank close to a bottle each, albeit throughout the day. We had a dinner reservation but it would probably have been better to buy some light food at a grocery store and relax once we got back, almost at 7pm. However, it's not just drinking; we had lots of great food and a lot of good conversation both with some of the folks at the wineries (mostly the first one, a really small place) and with Alen. He knows the wine country well and shared some interesting opinions on the region re tourism, development, etc. We had a really great time and while it's possible to drive around and sample these wineries for a lot less money, nothing beats having a driver who also doubles as a guide to the wines and to the area. We even stopped and picked some wild asparagus, which happened to be in season while we were there (mid-May). Highly recommend this tour!Olivia B

An excellent tour and experience. My partner and I did a day wine tasting and couldn’t have felt more comfortable and at ease with Alen. He was so knowledgable about wine and clearly well known and loved by all the staff at the winery’s. My son and I had a fabulous time on this tour! Alen is a great guide and extended our tour to include a wine festival, which was really fun! We had such a great day, we signed up for olive oil and truffle tasting the next day. We highly recommend tours with Alen.
