This was the most epic experience my 13 year old son and I had done together. I have done my own cave exploration and cave guided tours all over the states. I really wanted to do a real experience in a cave instead of handrails and lights but in a safer setting then what I did in my younger risk free days lol. Don’t get me wrong - I was blown away by the time we were on this adventure and the freedom to explore and challenge ourselves in and out of our comfort zones. Wes was super knowledgeable and could tell he was really into and passionate about the cave. My son said he wanted to see a bat and some salamanders and he sure did, even held the bat up close and personal! And thank you Wes for the knee and elbow pads, headlamps with fresh batteries, and helmets- so thankful for those)So my opinion is I would do a few things differently- I wouldn’t have taken my small pack, truck keys, or my waterproof armband with phone (if you bring your phone, make certain it is waterproof lol) But….. I did like taking photos myself, however when I got the ones from Wes there wasn’t anything I missed - he takes lots of pictures for everyone! I think it was a ton of fun and my son was able to squeeze through a place the rest of us couldn’t so I was impressed he did! Caves are cold, yes, water is cold, correct and in caves and water will make you cold, but totally worth it. The hours blurred by I couldn’t believe we were down there that long! If you are looking for a crazy long adventure you aren’t going to be disappointed. So for myself doing this hobby long before my son was born and doing over 4 other caves this past year, I had a blast and nothing I have done compared to this trip. Thank you Wes for searing a beautiful memory in our hearts. I hope my son never forgets this adventure, I know I won’t!This was hands down the best tour I’ve EVER been on!! This was hands down the best tour I’ve EVER been on!! Be aware you’re gonna get dirty and wet- and the water is COLD (somehow my brain knew the cave was cool but didn’t think about the water temperature 🤣🤦♀️). There are some TIGHT squeezes you will crawl through. I knew all of this going in…. I wasn’t expecting to army crawl and wiggle crawl though areas 🤣. I loved it so so so much!! It was def a great adventure! Wes did an AMAZING job making sure everyone was safe and felt secure with footings and any tricky areas. He would tell us and guide us where to put feet and best places to hold. He also took a million photos - which was amazing since we didn’t want to risk taking our phone down. I absolutely LOVED him letting us take our time - not only with tricky areas but areas and spots to just look and chill. This tour was a million times better than I expected!! I 10000% will be returning and telling all of my friends. My husband and I were in Alabama for a few days and I wanted to find a unique "only in Alabama" experience. My husband and I were in Alabama for a few days and I wanted to find a unique "only in Alabama" experience. I found the Wild Cave Adventure Tour and the reviews were amazing. If you're looking for an incredible adventure, this tour is for you! Our time with Wes was fantastic. He is so passionate about his cave and the story about how he got it sounds like a movie. Wes recommended that we not bring our phones as there is a pretty large "get wet" element to this tour. He brought his though, and took so many photos and videos that he sent to us that night. And if I wanted him to photograph something, all I had to do was ask. As an avid photographer, I appreciated this so much. This is no little cave! It's massive with waterfalls, a pretty significant creek (that you will be belly crawling through!) and lots of history. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Wes and highly recommend this tour for adventure seekers and those wanting to get out of their comfort zone. Thanks for an awesome day that we'll remember forever, Wes!Wow! This tour is truly unique. I've done cave tours in the past but nothing like this. Be prepared to get wet and muddy because you'll be crawling around (with kneepads) but that's half the fun. Never knew I could fit in narrow places. Wes was an amazing guide. Wow! This tour is truly unique. I've done cave tours in the past but nothing like this. Be prepared to get wet and muddy because you'll be crawling around (with kneepads) but that's half the fun. Never knew I could fit in narrow places. Wes was an amazing guide. He gave us a close look at salamanders, bats, fossils, and much more. Be prepared to be pushed out of your comfort zone a little too. We were exhausted by the end, which made the exit feel even more glorious knowing we had accomplished something so challenging. You don't want to miss out on this tour.Took my 11 year old grandson on this tour. Wes was very informative, made you feel at home, explained everything from gearing up, to each step along the way. Took my 11 year old grandson on this tour. Wes was very informative, made you feel at home, explained everything from gearing up, to each step along the way. I’ve taken my grandson to Mammoth Caves and Desoto Caverns but they have nothing on this tour! This tour is a true up close experience for Cave Spelunking! I’m a short 55 year old and wondered if I would be able to do it, Wes again was so encouraging especially near the end of the 4 hours when fatigue began to set in. We will definitely be back to see improvements he plans on making to the park and to visit the Cave Family! I promise you will not be disappointed in taking this tour! What an amazing experience. What an amazing experience. I’ve visited numerous cave around the country and here in Alabama and this was by far one of the most beautiful and diverse caves I’ve ever seen. Most of my children nor my wife had ever been and Wes was so knowledgeable and prepared that he made it easy and worry free for them. He provided all the safety gear and was very helpful the entire time and even took pictures for our whole group! Going down the Dragon’s Throat was the most difficult but SO worth it! Make sure you come to get wet and wear some Keens!!!! Can’t wait to go back and zip line once it is completed!
