What To Expect On Your Whale Watching Tour
Experience some the best whale watching Vancouver Island has to offer as you step outside Ucluelet's front door and explore one of the most beautiful places on Canada's Pacific Coast. Ucluelet boasts some of Vancouver Island's best whale watching plus breathtaking scenery and wildlife, including the Broken Group Islands within the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
The most common whales sighted in the Ucluelet area are gray whales, humpback whales, and the occasional killer whale (orca). On this tour you will also spot sea lions, seals, eagles, shore birds, and occasionally bears along the shoreline at low tide.

Thank goodness for a great recommendation from our hotel! My friend and I decided we wanted to get out on the water and what we got was so much more! Starting with Caleb taking our reservation, the experience was pleasant at every turn. While Cameron Ocean Adventures cannot take responsibility for the best possible weather, they sure know how to make the most of it! We didn’t have specific needs - whale watching, fishing, etc, we just wanted to get out there and experience the beauty of the area by sea and left the itinerary in their hands. Ryan, our captain, was knowledgeable and so much fun! He took us out to see the Sea Lions, did a slow troll in hopes of spotting whales (advising that they were spotted out much deeper that day), did a bit of fishing (we caught a Tiger Rockfish and he made it seem easy), took us through the Broken Group Islands where we saw a ton of Bald Eagles and kept us well informed on safety, what islands/rocks we were looking at and some of the history of the Indigenous people and early settlers. The Avanti is a beautiful boat and we were grinning from the moment we boarded and every minute of our 4 hour cruise. With an upper deck, a stand up washroom and large main cabin, we couldn’t have been more comfortable or well taken care of. Not long after we got started, we were already devising how soon we could return to do it again!!! Rayn crafted a truly customized adventure for us, seamlessly blending an incredible fishing experience for both the adults and kids.
