While discovering the history and architecture of the Vieux Lyon, and its mysterious Traboules (“secret covered passageways”), and the highlights of the City Center, you will be tasting local specialities in a friendly atmosphere. You will be offered the best and authentic local sweets and pastries, our selection of cheeses, as well as a traditional Lyonnais dish, associated with several tastings of white and red wines from the region. Tasty and very generous, you will not only experience a Food Tour but an incredible and memorable culinary adventure.

Eillin was warm, engaging, and knowledgeable and provided an excellent overview of the city. This was our favorite tour we did in all of France! Eillin was warm, engaging, and knowledgeable and provided an excellent overview of the city. She interwove the history, architecture, cuisine, wine, and key players of Lyon to show how one was connected to the other and paint a perfect picture. From Paul Bucose to the women who preceded him in gastronomy to the silk industry to the traboules to the churches, Eillin covered it all in half a day. She took us to a local bouchon and even ordered for us (with our permission of course) in order to encourage us to try some dishes we might not otherwise order, then told us what everything was. It was all delicious- including the generous portions of wine. Do not miss this tour! Ellin is a friendly, gracious and extremely knowledgeable person about all things Lyon. While this is advertised as a food tour you experience much more than food samples. We learned about the origins of croissants, the origins and meaning of Michelin stars, the Lyonnaise tradition of using local ingredients, sharing food, and utilizing the entire animal in their recipes. We visited taboules, learned their purpose-take the tour and find out, and sampled several local specialties, shared wine and cheese as well as lunch at a bouchon containing items I have never tasted before. We also learned about Paul Bocuse and visited a church with a clock from the 16th century that shows not just the sun but also the moon’s positions. All in all it was an excellent tour and I highly recommend you take it. I guarantee you will learn something you really didn’t know.This tour is a great opportunity to discover the city of Lyon, both its gastronomic culture and its history.
