Along the route, stop at a local coffee shop to try an energizing Omani tea. Stop At: Wadi Shab, Tiwi Oman
Wadi Shab, is a very popular wadi located in the Al Sharqiyah Region in Oman. It is a very popular outdoor attraction for both locals and expats, and people come here for the nature, to swim in the fresh water pools or just to have a barbecue. The main attraction of the wadi is the water fall in the cave, which you can reach after a roughly 40 mins hike and swimming in 2-3 pools. I really love coming to this wadi as it is not very far from Muscat, is easily accessible even with a saloon car and because the pools are always full with clear blue water!
Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: Bimmah Sinkhole, Hawiyat Najm Park, Muscat Oman
Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. It is only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Ḑibāb and Bimmah. The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone.[ However, locals believe that it was created by a meteorite, ‘Hawaiyat Najm’, which translates to ‘The Falling Star’ in Arabic, and hence the name.[3]
To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park, Hawiyat Najm Park (Haweat Najm Park), around it, along with a stairway leading down to the lake

The tour to Wadi Shab was definitely the highlight of my visit to Oman. Our guide, Ilia, was extremely helpful, friendly and shared lots of information about the country and its culture. I did a second trip with him to Nizwa and Jebel Shams, which was equally great and memorable. Another detail worth mentioning is the great local food we were able to taste during our tours.Had a great time at wadi shab. Highly recommend this tour. Everything about this trip was great! Maybe I was also very lucky as the group of people I found myself with was very international and a lot of fun (we were 10 in total). Everyone got on from the start. Our tour guide Ilia (originally from Russia but lives in Muscat many year years now) was very entertaining, professional and if you had a question he had the answer 😀 He also has a lot of anecdotes and tips about Muscat and Oman in general. I contacted the company directly as my hotel wasn't on the pick up list and they were very quick to reply. They use WhatsApp which is awesome if you have queries or need quick questions without having to call the local number. The bus trip is about 1h30mns to get to the Wadi and we stopped for a quick coffee half way. The hike to the Wadi is for everyone although it cab get very slippery so you need good shoes. It takes roughly 50mns to get there at a normal "taking lots of pictures" kind of pace 😁 If you want to swim to the underground cave, you will need to bring a waterproof case for your phone (pictures are worth it!) and some water shoes (the pebbles can get painful). After the hike, back on the bus for a spot of lunch at a VERY local restaurant... you won't get more local than this place 🤣 BUT don't judge a book by its cover...the food is excellent 👌 After lunch we drove back towards Muscat and stopped at our last sightseeing spot The Bimmah Sinhole and WOW. Basically if you like what you see on the pictures about the Wadi and the Sinkhole you will get it 3 times over when you see it live! You definitely will not regret it.
