here is your itinerary as soon as you arrive at Lalibela airport which is 25 kilometers away from Lalibela the driver wait you with your name and your own car and you will see some group of churches until 12:30 then after you had lunch you will visit the rest of the churches until 5:00

I visited Lalibella to cover the celebration of Ethiopian Orthodox Christmas, known as Genna Festival. Happy was our guide. He was very well informed and very polite and helpful. He took us to the right places at the right time so that we could cover the main events in the church. Happy also introduced us to local cuisine at one of the oldest and best restaurants in Lalibella. The trip was magical for me. I wish Happy the very best in life. He shows you good typicals restaurants where ethiopian people used to eat : very delicious likes ful, tips or kitfo! We also made treks on the mountains across Lalibela, it's' so cool! I landed in Lalibela - wanting just to see the churches - and choose my tour guide at the airport - his name was Desale (means Happy and this is his nickname that he lived up to) Alemu. He sorted out my hotel accommodation, took me out for dinner and he picked up the tab! Arranged my tour of the churches - which as other reviewers have said is breathtaking and a journey back in time... I also hiked in the mountains - where as well as getting some great exercise saw eagles and amazing panaromic and mountain views - took a tuk-tuk back downhill and had Injera for breakfast all within less than 24 hours!!!We were two friends in Lalibela for three days. Happy (Desale) is a great guy with lot of knowledge about Lalibela and its churches! He also was very helpful and arranged a motorbike for us. We are so happy with met him.
