Next make your way to the Doge's Palace again with VIP entry, the political center of Venice. We had a fantastic tour of Venice, thanks to a superb guide, Matteo, who made this amazing destination even more special. Matteo's knowledge of Venice, as both a fine arts graduate and a local resident, provided a deep perspective and understanding of the area's history along with insights into what it is like to live here today. By taking a private tour, we were able to spend just the right amount of time in each location and come away with extensive historical and "secret" knowledge that might have been missed in a group tour. My wife and I recently did the Venice in a day VIP tour (with Murano Glass) offered by LivTours. Our tour guide Marie-Therese was simply amazing!!! She was very knowledgeable and definitely loves her city. She truly wanted us to have the best experience possible. We were equally impressed with the customer service and experience we received from Marie-Therese/LivTours. There was initial confusion regarding a booked transfer via Water Taxi from our shuttle stop at Tronchetto to Piazza San Marco. However, let me tell you that Marie-Therese and LivTours (shout out to Paolo) went above and beyond to remedy the situation. They even took care of us by booking a very memorable gondola ride that was lovely! Also, they booked a water taxi transfer back to Tronchetto accompanied by Marie-Therese (with several follow-up texts/calls from Paolo. Amazing!!! The tour included express entry to the major spots such as St. Mark’s and Doge’s Palace (difficult to do in a single day on your own considering the long lines). Marie-Therese provided additional information at these sites that made the visits much more enriching. We also left the more touristy areas and traveled more of the streets definitely feeling like a local Venetian. The tour ended at a local Murano Glass shop watching local artists in action! By the time we ended the day we not only had fallen in love with Venice but felt like we had made a new friend in Marie-Therese. Nico was a fabulous tour guide! He added more knowledge and enjoyment to our experience of Venice than we could have learned on our own. He has extensive knowledge of the city and its customs. We covered everything from history to life in present-day Venice. We tried to soak up every bit of knowledge he shared with us. We all agreed that it wouldn’t have been nearly as good an experience just seeing these sites on our own. It was so enjoyable spending the day with him! Venice and Nico were the perfect combination for us!
