I really enjoyed cooking with Kajal and Shailesh (he held the camera). Almost right after booking I received the list of the ingredients and instructions to let them know if there was something I could not find in stores so they could give me an alternative. We used Zoom instead of Skype ( beforehand I offered both as a selection) and the connection was very good, the picture clear and Shaislesh handled the camera very well. He even showed me their beautiful home and views outside their window so I could see parts of Mumbai. The cooking itself was fun. First I was shown all the ingredients and then we started cooking the Panner Mutter. Kajal adjusted to my pace because it took a little longer for me since I only have an electric cooker while she uses gas. I was asked about the level of spiciness I wanted my final dish to be and it was adjusted accordingly. Every step was well explained and both speak very good english that is easy to understand. Also the cooking itself was not very difficult. I did not have to be an experienced chef to pull this off. My husband who has been to India before was delighted with the finished Paneer Mutter and claimed it did indeed taste like real Indian food. I can recommend this course to everyone who just wants a little holiday from home or as a gift to someone who loves to cook. It´s a perfect way to taste and virtual experience a foreign country, especially in times of Covid when you can´t travel yourself.I cooked Panner Mutter Masala with Kajal and Shailesh from Mystical Mumbai. I cooked Panner Mutter Masala with Kajal and Shailesh from Mystical Mumbai. Right after booking Shailesh contacted me and told me he'd sent the list of ingredients that I'd need to buy and told me to contact him if there was something I could not find. I found almost everything at my local asian store and this kind of support already showed me a very good start to my virtual cooking class. Due to the time difference I was cooking at 8am german time and we used Zoom instead af Skype. I was sent the link to connect a few hours before. Kajal first explained and showed all the ingredients she had lined up on her table and then we started cooking. She then gave step by step instructions that were easy to follow and she adjusted her pace so I could cook along. It sometimes took me a littler longer because I only have an electric oven while she uses gas. Along the way I was also asked about the level of spiciness I wanted my dish to have and e.g. the chillies were adjusted accordingly. Kajal and Shailesh were very good to understand and even though my video once froze, this was only for seconds. After all I was cooking together with somebody at the other side of the world so this was to be expected. The quality of the camera was very good, better than what I can offer with my tablet at home. Truth be told, before booking I had been wondering if this was maybe not done in Mumbai but in some film studio in some other country. Yes, I am one of these mistrusting people. But I was completely wrong as during the time we had to wait for the rice to cook and other non-cooking moments Shailesh showed me the view outside their window, their beautiful home and Kajal presented her selection of spices and the really beautiful ceramic water urn they have in their kitchen. So definitely India! I absolutely enjoyed the experience of the cooking lesson. It was like a little adventure, starting with buying the exotic ingredients and then cooking live with somebody on the other side of the world. The paneer mutter also tested very good - so far I only tried palak paneer and Dal restaurants- and will be something that I am from now on going to cook more often. I can absolutely recommend this event, also as a gift to somebody who likes to cook and/or ( like I did) as an adventure in times when travelling due to covid is not possible. Covid is not possible. We enjoyed the cooking experience with you very much and learned a lot. The meal was delicious. Thank you very much! Petra
