Daily tours leave at 08:30 am from La Fortuna for our Class IV White Water Rafting Adventure on the Balsa River and includes round trip transportation from local La Fortuna hotels, all equipment, guides, fruit on the river, towels, water, & costarican lunch. We come back to La Fortuna town at 13:30.
This tour is appropriate for anyone with 5 years and older.

For those in good physical condition, we’ll take you for a 15-kilometer ride down the river you won’t forget anytime soon! Stop along the way to rest a bit, do a little swimming, and enjoy some fresh Costa Rica fruit. After white water rafting, we’ll take you to a local restaurant to have a Costa Rica style lunch.

We took this rafting trip with our 2 teenage girls and enjoyed the trip massively. Just the right mix of excitement and relaxation, some swimming in the river and a snack stop with fresh fruits … and at the end a tasty cooked lunch. All the team was very positive, cheerful and created a ‘pura vid...

Absolutely Amazing!!! Must Do!! Don't even think twice about it!! We loved everything about it... We are a family of 6 with kids ages 17, 15, 13, 7. We've never been white water rafting before and we were a bit nervous about the higher class 3/4 rapids (especially with our 7yo) but we were traveling with another family that wanted to go for it so we did it. Arenal Rafting staff was super professional and so fun and had everything planned out perfectly. They gave us an incredible guide - Elvis - who we will never forget. We felt totally safe but also experienced really thrilling rapids. Elvis gave us perfect instructions and we managed the raft well. No one fell out of the raft the whole way but there was an area to go out and swim. It was generally a great time with a lot of excitement and laughter. That being said, there were other rafts with older groups (college kids, all adults...) who could handle more tumbling and we saw that they were jumping out more and getting more tossed around to their content. So the guides really know how to manage your raft to accommodate specific needs. Excellent!! Apart from that, on the way to the location we stopped for treats. During the rafting we paused midway where the guides cut up fresh local fruit which was incredibly delicious!! After the excursion we were welcomed back to a delicious meal (see photos). Also, you end up with fabulous photos. Just like the ones advertised. AND we mistakenly didn't download our photos before the link expired and I called Dani (who runs the company and is literally a joy to talk to) 5 months later and he was happy to help me retrieve my photos. I had them within 5 minutes. I wish I could share the actual rafting photos but I haven't downloaded them yet. But we paid for the ones taken through the company and it was well worth it. They are so awesome. Side note -they will tell you not to bring anything on the raft - listen to them! Not worth losing your valuables. But a go pro that attaches to a helmet is a good idea.
