This is a typical full day island tour, starting from 9:00 up to 4:30.
The tour begins with Santa Maria, the pier specifically, where you will see the locals begin their daily fishing endeavors. Shortly after this, we will head over to the following destinations:
Pass By: Murdeira, Murdeira, Ilha do Sal

Stop At: Palmeira, Palmeira, Ilha do Sal
Visiting this small fishing village which offers typical houses and lifestyle of local Cape Verde people. It is also the home of all import and export on the island.

Stop At: Espargos, Espargos, Ilha do Sal
Being the capital of the island, we will go for a short drive and stop for lunch. Next, we'll ahead to Salinas - a view of the Salt Lakes.

Visited the Salt mines, harbour, a mirage in the desert, the blue eye,lovely lunch, had lemon sharks swimming round our feet and ended with a float (not a swim) in the salt lake! Don't forget to take money though as you will need...

Don't forget to take money though as you will need to pay for your lunch and tickets to salt lake and blue eye. Shop at the mirage has local fare, but is cash only. It was a cracking day. Can recommendCan't fault this trip, it was everything we hoped for and more. Our tour guide Jason was super informative and went out of his way to make everyone's trip as stress free as possible. So glad we did it as it was one of our best memories of cape verde.

We arranged this and other tours through Edgar Pires before we arrived. Edgar supplied us with so much useful information about the country, the resort and trips available without any pressure to book. He really is a gentleman who loves his country and wants you to feel the same. Edgar introduced us to our guide for the day, the wonderful Jairson ("Jason"). He was such great fun and made sure that everybody enjoyed the day. We visited many sites including the salt pans, the blue eye (which the sun sun came out for!!) and the lemon sharks, but the highlight of the day has to be the salt lake, an amazing experience of floating on the water and not being able to sink! We should mention that it is a bit of a steep walk down (and back up from!) the salt lake for anyone with mobility issues. As one of our party did, Jason managed to take our vehicle right down which was brilliant and came to collect us as well. We had lunch at a local restaurant which was delicious and good value. Jason even helped serving and clearing away. We also stopped by the shanty town and took some treats for the locals which were very much appreciated. We cannot recommend Edgar highly enough. His service is second to none. He is honest, reliable and thoughtful. He even contacted us after the trip to see if we had enjoyed ourselves.Edgar, Marcello and our driver (I'm sorry I cant remember his name) were absolutely marvellous. He met us at the hotel and introduced us the the fantastic Marcello and drivers. Marcello is a very knowledgeable young man, extremely friendly helpful and professional. The trip itself was a great day out, we saw some wonderful sights. Make sure you take plenty of drinking water and sun cream with you, wear sensible footwear and don't wear any clothes that you would mind getting very very dusty. Edgar was incredibly helpful sending me all the information before we arrived on the island giving us time to select our trips. We did the full day Island tour - great day with Jason. Weather wasn’t great but Jason adapted the route to ensure we had the best experience. Great to leave the hotel and see the island, new experiences (Salt lake and Lemon sharks), local guide and lots of information! Brilliant value for money and cheaper than TUI trips! Catamaran - lovely fun trip and snorkelling in a bay. Quad bikes - Daughter and husband loved this trip so much! Well organised and a great way to see some of the island. All in all, I highly recommend Edgar and Union tours, trustworthy, honest and made sure we had a great experience! Thank you Edgar and Jason for looking after us.
