I was in Lviv for a couple of days on my summer holiday and wanted to explore more Soviet history. I came across this food tour and it was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had. My guide Ksenia was extremely friendly, talkative and highly knowledgable. She explained the story behind each restaurant/canteen and food they served in each place. It was an experiement tasting many different cuisine no matter how basic some looked but the bonus was we got on very well and made a friend after the tour. Would certainly recommend this if you're a huge food lover and into communist history at the same time. The first reason to book this tour was me and my wife's being a big time foodies. We stopped by the Tourist Information Center in the city town hall, and stumbled upon the food tour with Ohla. We went to 3 stops for the tour, and these are all restaurants that are very popular with the locals. One restaurant is at the roof top, and another one is in the same building as the glass museum, and we had many interesting dishes and Ohla patiently explained to us what the dishes are. Our personal favorite is the onion pie in the restaurant by the glass museum. Then we went to a cafe for some delicious honey cake and coffee to top off the evening. But that's not the end of it, we told Ohla we would be heading to Kiev the next day, and she sent us a list of her personal favorites in Kiev. Her recommendations are spot on, and we had the best Chicken Kiev, and also went to a fusion restaurant that's very popular with the locals. We wouldn't be able to find these places by doing the research on our own. Thanks to Ohla we have the most unforgettable dining experiences for our Ukrainian holidays.
