We booked this trip from home in the UK. Communication was excellent, the details were clear and the price was very reasonable. Unfortunately, the trains were on strike the morning we were to leave Thessaloniki. Visit Meteora sent a driver who took us all the way by car, so there was no disruption to our plans. They kept in touch by e-mail, so the right tech was necessary. Both of our tours were well worth it. We were in a small group both times and transported from place to place by a comfortable mini-bus. The guides were professional, consistent, knowledgeable and passionate about their subject and the areas around Meteora they showed us. We felt we covered a lot and would never have been able to pack so much in had we been in our own. At no point did we feel rushed or like we were being ushered around. There was plenty of time to see things at your own pace and the drop off directions and return times were clear and appropriate. The monasteries are all perched on high rocks, so be prepared for a bit of stair climbing. We are reasonably fit, so had no problem, but would imagine the climbs down and up might present a difficulty for some. We made lots of stops to take in the natural beauty of the area as well and our chosen trip allowed time in Kalambaka on the first afternoon and evening and the second afternoon too. The hotel arranged for us was very comfortable and convenient, with a great breakfast and guidance and information from our host. The return train journey to Thessaloniki was pleasant and uneventful. All in all, we had a great time in an awe-inspiring landscape with wonderful hosts, guides and drivers. Thank you, Visit Meteora Team, for a marvellous time.Uno de los lugares más espectaculares del mundo: Las Meteoras! Ubicada al norte de Grecia. After arriving by train from Thessaloniki, we did the sunset tour around Meteora in the evening. It was amazing! The staff was super friendly, the ride in the company owned van was comfortable. The information provided by our guide was really interesting and they stopped at the perfect view points for photos and stunning panoramas. The sunset was especially amazing. The four hours of the tour were worth every second of the kinda long way from Thessaloniki to Kalambaka. Top recommendation for everyone who has a weakness for sunsets, tremendous scenic views, a bit of interest for local culture and history (we saw monarchys and a church from the 4th century A.C.) and doesn't want to hike up the rocks. :)I really enjoyed the trip. I recommend it for people who don't really like package tours due to the choices you're given. I liked having a little adventure of taking the train by ourselves to Kalambaka, where we were picked up. The sunset tour was great for my older parents and me, and I recommend brining all of your heavy photo equipment/tripods for this tour, since we stayed on the bus most of the time. I enjoyed the hiking tour and it wasn't too demanding. My parents took the half-day tour and due to some some mobility issues, they chose not to walk to one monastery, but they just stayed on the bus and felt no pressure to do something they didn't want to. Overall, it was efficient and flexible and well organized.
