Turtle Release Playa Blanca
Overview
During the night, turtles come to the beach and lay eggs. To protect these eggs, a qualified team takes them and places them in a turtle sanctuary to protect them from predators.
After a briefing you will be given a freshly hatched baby turtle that you will release on the beach. Cheer them all on as they run to sea!
As this is based on hatchlings, the location of the tour may change on the day.

For this Turtle Liberation tour, Zihua-Ixtapa Transportation will take you to Troncones Beach, playa Blanca to witness the release of newborn turtles into the ocean.

We were promptly picked up from our hotel, had a very knowledgeable guide (Francisco), got to ride ATVs to the beach (kids loved that!), had a great lesson on what we were doing and had a hands on experience with each of my three children (11,13,15) getting to be part of it. What a great excursion! The guides, Ulises and Kelly, were right on time to pick us up from the hotel, the van was air conditioned (phew!) and they had coolers of water and beer. They were very informative about the region and small towns we passed through. The drive was interesting to get to where we released the turtles. There was a shorter, bumpier ride in a truck on the back roads to the beach. The conservationists and turtle experts gave a short lecture on types of turtles in that region of Mexico and how many had laid eggs on the beach that year. Seeing the day-old Carey / Hawksbill turtle babies was amazing as the little creatures are just so perfect! We released them a bit of a distance from the surf and watched them all head to the water. I did not receive any emails because I was in Africa and had no service. It was my word against theirs. Am truly disappointed and will use another provider in the future
