Rodrigo was a great guide, very knowledgeable about flora/fauna, friendly, and fun to chat with. Rodrigo was a great guide, very knowledgeable about flora/fauna, friendly, and fun to chat with. I hiked with my sister (we are 31 and 29 years old, fairly active people). We tried to contact the tour operator (Rutas Outdoors) several times via phone and WhatsApp prior to booking to see if it was suitable for our father (63, has had a hip replacement) and unfortunately never got any responses back. He didn’t end up coming which turned out to be very good - this hike is NOT suitable if you have any health conditions or fitness concerns. It was about 1-1.5 hours hours of steep upwards climbing, and several scrambles over fallen trees. We definitely earned the views at the top and the soak in the thermal pools afterwards! This was a great experience, had an awesome guide. The tour company provided everything we needed, gear, backpack, snowshoes, gloves, etc. our guide was great and made sure we were safe at all times, and were enjoying the adventure. The tour company provided everything we needed, gear, backpack, snowshoes, gloves, etc. our guide was great and made sure we were safe at all times, and were enjoying the adventure. The hot springs was the “reward” at the end of the hike. The only disappointment was finding out we could have booked directly with the tour company and saved $40 by not using TripAdvisor. From start to finish, this was a great adventure. From start to finish, this was a great adventure. Our guides, Francisco and Felipe, picked us up at our apartment. Both were respectful, knowledgeable and pleasant to spend the day. After a rigorous hike that opened into expansive 360 degree views of towering volcanos, we enjoyed soaking in amazing hot springs for several hours. Our guides were flexible and made various suggestions that helped us get the most from this day long excursion. There is food and drink for purchase at the hot springs but be sure to pack snacks and water for the hike. I recommend this for folks ready for a hiking challenge and who appreciate natural wonders of hot springs, mature foliage and crystal clear waterfalls. Memorable day!
