Wow!! The ride to the top is spectacular. The ride to the top is divided into two parts. First, from hungerberg to seegruberg and then seegruberg to hafelkar. Once at the top, you will have breathtaking views of Innsbruck and Alps mountain. There is also trail to ride further top (cross point) and there you have amazing views of valley and gorge on other side. Be careful on trail as there are no protective barriers. When we arrive, the weather was amazing and sunny. At seegruberg, you have lovely restaurant and we have lunch and drinks here. We spent almost 4 hours here. There are sitting areas too where you can sit and enjoy views as long as you want. It was really unforgettable memory for us.We had The Innsbruck card with all main attractions included in it so we did it. Otherwise we wouldn’t because the “regular” prices seemed a bit too high. We had The Innsbruck card with all main attractions included in it so we did it. Otherwise we wouldn’t because the “regular” prices seemed a bit too high. When we got to the top we thought it was nice but nothing to die for and we thought the price for the transportation was not justified. Besides, it take a long time to get there and back with a few transfers each way. The cable car runs every 15 minutes and it’s always overcrowded. There is nothing to do on top except to sit on the bench for a little bit and breathe some fresh air looking down valley. We visited in the late afternoon so we couldn’t sit in the bar outside at one of the stops below because the cable car stops running early and we wouldn’t have time. Also, it was super. You have to come early if you’d a beer with a view. Keep it in mind.We left from the Congress station on the funicular and transferred to the cable car at Hungerburg, all the way to the top at Hafelekar. We enjoyed beverages at the three different cable car stops.

It's such an incredible place if you come to Innsbruck you must take the cable car.

Unfortunately, the cable car was way too overcrowded and the staff couldn't care less about the standard hygienic measures considering that we currently have a pandemic going on. We have decided to not take the cable car shortly before entering it and started our hiking tour right at the bottom instead. Our advice for everyone not feeling comfortable in huge crowds at the current time: skip the cable car!
