What to expect
At the start of the day we'll head out for Thorsmork. Getting to Thorsmork is an adventure in itself and part of the way is driven in a specially equipped vehicle that takes you into the rugged wilderness, safely crossing rough roads and glacial rivers.
A delicious lunch is included at the Volcano Huts resort, located in Húsadalur Valley in Thórsmörk.
We also offer the option of being picked up from your accommodation in postcodes 850 / 851 / 860 / 861. We will return you back to your hotel/accommodation after a fantastic day of adventure.Please contact us if you wish to arrange this.

Stephan, our guide, was extremely knowledgable about the history of Thorsmork and was fun to be around throughout the trip. The hike he had planned out was fun and had an incredible view at the top. My family and I have never done any adventures with a guide before. We 4X4 camp, backpack and love to explore all over. At first it seemed silly to pay a lot for a guide as we have maps and rented a "4x4" camper. However, working with Southcoast Adventure was well worth it. The camper we rented would have never taken us where the Super Jeep did and we would have missed the hidden gems our guide, Geirmundur, showed us. From the initial inquiry as to what tours they offered for a family, we received great service and thorough information. Sigga, our coordinator, was super helpful in coming up with suggestions based on what we were looking to do. Our guide, Geirmundur, was so kind and engaging. We learned about the natural history of the area and had a great time crusing and hiking through the beautiful scenery of Thorsmork. Driving through the river is an experience I will not soon forget! I seriously had a smile on my face for hours on this excursion. Gorgeous scenery, adventurous hikes, engaging and thoughtful conversation, kids having a blast surrounded by amazing nature....I can't say enough. My husband was thouroughly entertained as well, not having to drive the rental in precarious circumstances, experiencing the super Jeep from the passenger seat and teasing Geirmundur about his "work." Geirmundur was also great about gauging the hikes to our abilitiy levels. Pick up and drop off coordination was easy, (we camped at the pickup spot), and our tour group was small (my family of 4 and a kind couple from Germany). We had an absolutely fantastic time on our superjeep tour through Thorsmork. Booking the tour was very simple, and we were lucky enough to be the only ones on our tour. Our tour guide Vitin (I apologize if I am spelling it incorrectly) was happy to answer all of our questions and was both a very capable driver and guide through all the sights. We first saw a waterfall near Eyjafjallajökull by clambering through streams and hiking through rock fields. Next, we walked through a very green and mossy valley filled with nesting birds, climbed a bunch of rocks, and saw another waterfall that was in an extremely tranquil and peaceful location. We then had a wonderful lunch of lamb stew, salad, and buttered bread at the Volcano huts, and then we went on a hike up Valahnúkur mountain. It was a pretty intense hike, but the 360 degree view of Thorsmork from up on top was definitely worth it. We are so happy that we got to go on this adventure, and we could not have done it without our guide or Southcoast, and we would recommend it to anyone.My parents, their friends and I recently spent 5 days touring with Southcoast adventures and each day was unique, engaging and a ton of fun! My parents, their friends and I recently spent 5 days touring with Southcoast adventures and each day was unique, engaging and a ton of fun! Our guides, Hilmar and Stefan, were wonderful and we’d love to travel with them again. I can’t wait to come back and do a multi-day hiking and backcountry trip. Would not use anyone else and if you are considering self drive vs hiring a guide/driver, it is worth every penny to hire them privately. You can’t have a similar experience on your own.The trip was amazing! A full day experience with a professional and very knowledgeable guide. Spectacular views and scenery! The tour includes some great hikes. We enjoyed a nice lunch.
