Be ready for pickup at 10.00 am at your Salzburg hotel. Make yourself comfortable in your comfortable touring vehicle
Stop At: Schloss Leopoldskron, Leopoldskronstrasse 56-58, Salzburg 5020 Austria
Start your sightseeing day with the castle Leopoldskron. Admire the view of the lake, castle, and fortress in the background. Leopoldskron was used as the von Trapp family home in Sound of Music. Also, the boat scene with Maria and the kids was filmed here.

Stop At: Schloss Hellbrunn, Fuerstenweg 37, Salzburg 5020 Austria
Your next stop will be Hellbrunn Palace. The prince archbishops of Salzburg used it as a place for celebration, pleasure, and rehabilitation.
And you can see the Sound of Music Gazebo (16 going 17) in the park of the Palace Hellbrunn.

Stop At: Rosewood Schloss Fuschl (2024), 5322 Hof bei Salzburg, Austria
After a short drive from Salzburg, you’ll reach the castle of Fuschl. Capture a picture of the castle with the emerald-green Lake Fuschlsee as its backdrop, before heading on to St. Gilgen with Lake Wolfgang, the next photo stop.

Stop At: Basilika St. Michael, Kirchengasse 1, Mondsee 5310 Austria
The next Sound of Music location is waiting for you the St. Michael's Church in Mondsee, which they used as the wedding church.

Stop At: Hallstatter See, Hallstatt Austria
Your journey continues to Hallstatt via Bad Ischl and Bad Goisern. Having reached Hallstatt and the highlight of this full-day tour, your private guide will point out the must-sees of Hallstatt to you, which include a beautiful photo spot of Hallstatt, Charnel House (Bone House), Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt Waterfall “Waldbachstrub”, Hallstatt’s local residence area and more. You will have 2 hour to explore Hallstatt and all these sites on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the great lakeside restaurants in Hallstatt (at your own expense).

Patrick arrived promptly at our hotel to start us off on this private full day tour covering key locations from the Sound of Music as well as Hallstatt. As a Salzburg local, he knew the best places for visitors to appreciate the city’s sights and its connection to the film. He was very friendly and took care to answer our young daughter’s questions throughout the trip. He also drove through the Lake District and Salzburg carefully- perfect for a family with a kid. At the end of the tour he very flexibly dropped us off at a different location and gave us tips to explore the city some more after the tour.Ray B

We chose this private tour to get that personal attention and experience this area at our pace and focus on what interested us. We could not have been more pleased with the entire day's experience. Patrick and our driver Manford knew their stuff and accommodated all of our whims. It is by far the best tour we've ever been on and when we return to this area of Europe, we will definately seek them out for one of their other itineraries. Patrick had a well planned out itinerary showing us the major Sound of Music “must-sees” yet he customized the day to include sites, stops and interesting facts to keep everyone in our group engaged We had a wonderful 2 hour stop at Halstead where we could explore and relax “on our own”. We booked the half day city tour and the sound of music tour and were extremely satisfied with both. We were driven through the countryside with breathtaking views and the mountain roads, learning a lot about the area as well as some German words at the same time. Big thanks to our guide Patrick, for making our trip to Salzburg unforgettable. His ever so jovial and enthusiastic attitude made the tour even more enjoyable. He also has a great sense of humour, never failing to entertain us during the whole trip. He caught on earlier that we loved taking our own sweet time taking photos, so he made sure we had plenty of time for photostops. I would highly recommend MCM tours to anyone visiting Salzburg and wanting to take the road less travelled in addition to getting the best experience out of their stay in Salzburg.
