It’s a must do!Few animals were missing like lion, Zebra and much more. Sign boards are horrible. Seriously have to concentrate on the sign boards. Even the annual membership tickets are over priced.

An excellent zoo experience. I went at opening time and stayed for about four hours in total, walking the entire time. I saw just about everything, including the rainforest Avery twice as it was a highlight of the day in my opinion. Stand still or sit and moment and the birds will come right up to you. It’s so peaceful! The ticket process was simple. I used my uni ID as concession which was awesome as it was $35 entry instead of $50! I grabbed a map from information and off I went. There’s also a downloadable App with interactive features. I recommend going early. Not many people were at the zoo until mid-morning and the animals are active early and there are no crowds. The landscaping is beautifully done with lush vegetation and the layout is large and rambling so it feels enormous and not like other zoos. Maps and signposts are everywhere. The views of the bay are stunning. The animals were very well kept and looked happy and healthy and the exhibit viewing is smartly designed so you can actually see the animals. The lions and finches were off display today but otherwise heaps of gorgeous animals. I especially enjoyed the free-roaming turkeys, ibis, foul and water dragons. Plenty of insects flitting about too. There were information displays but the volunteer docents around the zoo absolutely made the experience. They were friendly and helpful and full of great knowledge. Just ask them - they’re so lovely!!! There’s a large cafeteria with outdoor and indoor seating. Everything is cashless in the park - so bring a card. The zoo gift shop was full of lovely things and I noticed they sell clothing and umbrellas if the weather should impact your visit. The shop is located near the ticket counter so you can visit before entering the pack if needed. The ticket is for the full day, if you leave you can return. Good to know! While I strongly recommend visiting the zoo, do be prepared to walk a lot, with stairs, ramps and slight hills. There are lifts in some areas but they weren’t working today. Definitely bring your walking shoes! I have heard the ferry is an amazing way to get to the zoo but I ended up grabbing an Uber from the bed stop area at the front gate. All in all - a great experience and lovely day out.Great zoo, very overcrowded so get there early. The food was ok but limited animals on display, loved the cable car to the top. Not bad for a standard zoo

Kids are already asking to go back again, definitely recommend.

Caught the ferry to Taronga during our recent stay in Sydney. It’s a short ferry ride, maybe 10-15 minutes and it leaves about every 30 minutes from Circular Key. General admission tickets for us adults were $49 and a little less for the kids with their student cards. We spent about 4 hours there, which gave us plenty of time to sit and watch the animals without feeling rushed. It was over the Easter period, very busy and the food areas were packed and expensive. We particularly enjoyed the Chimpanzees, Gorillas and Tigers and our patience in these areas rewarded. Would definitely recommend as a fun family activity with kids of most ages, but try to feed those teenagers before you get there😁
