What to expect
We'll spend 15-30 minutes on land going over safety, ocean conditions, and practicing technique. Then we'll spend about 1 hour in the ocean catching waves together.
NOTE: All participants MUST be able to swim. Children 12 years and younger must take a private lesson, they cannot book this product.

Dan Dan was an amazing instructor!! This was our first time surfing and our 10-year old daughter was initially unsure of going. After her first run, she was eager to keep trying so she could finally stand up. She was so proud of herself and Dan Dan’s encouragement made all the difference. We immediately felt at ease and had a great experience. We will definitely be back!!Zack was an absolutely incredible instructor! He was friendly, gave clear instructions and advice on what we needed to do and we were able to catch several waves thanks to him! My advice for future travelers is to definitely build up your upper body strength before you come, you’re gonna need it.

You need to know before you obligate yourself or anyone else to these lessons that the paddle out to where the actual waves are has got to be over a quarter of a mile through rough water. My 17 year old daughter made it with assistance but my 15 year old daughter had to turn back, as did my wife so our youngest wouldn't be alone. Although I was warned that it was shallow I still managed to hit my foot on the coral which completed dictated the rest of the vacation. Limping around Oahu for the rest of the week was definitely not what I had in mind. We spent almost $500 for 2 hours of surf lessons and two of us spent maybe 30 minutes actually trying to catch a wave. To be clear, the young man that was trying to help us did his very best to make sure we had a good time. We were simply too tired to really enjoy it. Be honest with yourself about your physical condition. It is going to be a grueling 2 hours even for someone in great shape. Good luck!What a beautiful day. StokeDrift has a very friendly staff. Absolutely perfect for the family. We have two young teenagers. I wasn’t sure we adults could hack it, but we kept up. We were all successful by our second waves. You get a beach tutorial, then paddle out to a safe and close enough distance to hang ten. Our instructor was fantastic! They even snap photos while you’re out there (those are pricey, but you gotta have ‘em). This experience was worth every penny.
