Our tour starts from Piazza dell'Odegitria, inside Bari Vecchia, the city's historic centre.
Your local expert will be waiting for you at the palms near the Cathedral's front door.

Stop At: Cattedrale di San Sabino, Piazza Odegitria, Bari Italy
On the way to the first stop on the tour, we pass the Cathedral of San Sabino. At the first stop, we will taste the typical Bari focaccia in one of the oldest bakeries in town.
Focaccia barese is a delicious mixture of ground semolina, boiled potatoes, salt, yeast and water. Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside! Before baking it is covered with tomatoes and olives.

Stop At: Museo Civico Bari, Strada Sagges 13, 70122, Bari Italy
Walking through the alleys of the city centre, we pass the Civic Museum of Bari.
After eating the famous 'sgagliozze' (quares of polenta, fried by housewives all year round) and fried 'popizze' (ound pancakes of leavened dough), we head for the third stop, where we will eat the famous 'panzerotto' (The classic one has a filling of mozzarella and tomato, but you can find many other original variations).

Stop At: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 70100, Bari Italy
Passing through Corso Vittorio Emanuele, we head for our fourth stop where we eat the typical octopus sandwich, grilled and seasoned octopus with a drizzle of oil and a splash of lemon accompanied by a cold beer.

Stop At: Castello Normanno Svevo, Piazza Federico II di Svevia 4, 70122, Bari Italy
Our tour ends with excellent and fresh ice cream to enjoy in the warm streets of the city.

Gaetano is a very nice guy and the right guide for Bari. However, this tour is not very well thought out or organized, there is a slight chaos. I also have doubts about the value. A total of 5 stops were planned. 1. / 20min waiting in a narrow alley where cars drive and you don't really talk much. (but the food was excellent, actually the best was right at the beginning) 2. / The stand didn't even work, we waited for it to start and spent part of the wait in a hastily imagined walk. 3. / A queue we didn't even go to and we left the place :-( actually the only way to go to the toilet .. It's a bit of a mystery to me that the one who does the tour almost every day can't predict where the waiting time will be .. ... The food was replaced by sliced cheese and mortadella on a plate ...: - // Probably not quite typical street food. 4. / Sandwich and wine. Very good. 5. / Ice cream. The planned ice cream parlor with the best ice cream is said to be closed, so another .... The weather was fine, but the idea was not completely fulfilled. I played the tracker of the whole tour. 3h. 2km. Almost 2 hours just waiting ....The food tour with Gaetano was amazing. Gae was extremely friendly and nice. He was patient and explained to us even the process of making some of the food which is very educational. We had so much fun together and I love all the food we tried. Gae also gave us many amazing recommendations around...

I think that there ia a room to have an alternative for kids as well. Gaetano with his knowledge and kindness was super and we got a tour guide and a street food mentor in one package.
