What to expect
You'll meet your instructor at our beach stand on West Beach. From there he or she will get you suited with life jackets and provide you with a paddling technique and safety tutorial.
Before you know it you'll be off on the calm waters of the Santa Barbara channel and harbor. You'll quickly be on your feet and learning to Stand Up Paddle with ease. Once you have the hang of things your instructor will take you into the harbor to explore and enjoy the fun diversity of vessells found in the harbor.
After exploring the harbor your instructor will offer more opportunities to improve your skills around Sandspit and over to the buoys where there are always harbor seals ready to say hello. Before paddling back to the beach you'll wrap around the pier and if you're up for it ride underneath the pier to complete your adventurous paddle!
Please note: You must know how to swim in order to paddle with us. There is a high probability that you won't have to swim during your lesson but as a safety precaution, we ask that everyone paddling with us knows how to swim.

- Guides are required to wear masks at the shop and rental stand but as soon as tours and lessons begin it is extremely easy to maintain a safe distance and the use of masks will only happen if requested by the client.

We did a paddle board lesson with a younger boy instructor (can’t remember his name) but, he was amazing! He was Extremely patient with both myself and my daughter. We were so scared that we would not be able to stand and fall in the water that he took it upon himself to jump and fall in the water to show us nothing would happen(worst case scenario that happened) after that! I was Brave and stood up line a champ. He was amazing with showing us the proper way to use the paddles as well as how to stand up properly. In addition, he gave us a boat tour as we paddle board. It was so amazing, quiet, and peaceful! We learned a few things about the area as well as boats at the harbor. Also, the ladies that checked me in were so friendly and welcomed us with a big smile. I loved this place! I will Use it again.My family had a SUP lesson with Molly and Kristen. They were both great teachers and very encouraging. Highly recommended!

I have some experience paddling so he structured my lesson to fit my ability and gave me the added tools I need to help round out being a better paddler and having a better experience in less forgiving conditions!
