Fred is amazing and inspiring guide in his 60s running circles around us younger guys on the Volcano hike, I want to become Fred when I grow up! Fred is a former school teacher and reliable and personable guide properly full of interesting tidbits about Saint Vincent. Had a brilliant daytrip, picked up at 0715, starting the hike 0845 and down again about 5h later incl. 40min by the volcano crater enjoying an unreal view. If you're slightly fit for a walk (no more than ~8km) then La Soufriere hike is an unmissable experience and Fred is the ideal guide to go with. Proud I could support Saint Vincent tourism after a couple of devastating years of pandemic and mega-eruption!I took the hike up La Soufriere today with Stays Taxis. It’s a strenuous hike, especially near the top, but you are rewarded with a great view down into the crater. The higher sections of the trail were disrupted by the April eruption, so the correct route isn’t always obvious and the upper sections are quite scrabbly. Fred did a great job of guiding me up and also provided lots of interesting information about La Soufriere and St Vincent. I’d strongly recommend this tour!We really enjoyed our guided hike up the volcano with Fred from Stays Taxis and Tours. We really enjoyed our guided hike up the volcano with Fred from Stays Taxis and Tours. Fred was on time (early in fact) to pick us up from our accommodation and gave us lots of local historical and contemporary information as he drove us to the trail head. Once on the hike, which took us about 5 1/2 hours up and down, he looked after us with snacks and drinks and told us about the flora and fauna on the mountain, as well as about eruptions including the recent one in 2021. On return we went to a local restaurant in Georgetown for a tasty meal before Fred kindly dropped us at the airport for our evening flight. All in all, an excellent activity and operator.Beautiful, but challenging hike. Beautiful, but challenging hike. The first 3/4's of this well-maintained trail winds through a lovely rainforest canopy along mountain ridges with some sections hiking up many stairs. The last section is more exposed near the top of the crater. The day we went it was unusually foggy at the top, but there was still plenty to see and well worth the hike. Fred is a great guide and went above and beyond for us several times while we were in St. Vincent. Tripadvisor double booked him for the day we originally chose, but he was willing to take us last minute since we only had a short time available. He also took great care of us on Sunday when everything was shut down and we had nowhere to temporarily leave our luggage. We would highly recommend Fred! This hike is not an easy hike, I am an experienced hiker and a bit older than Fred. This hike is not an easy hike, I am an experienced hiker and a bit older than Fred. He was a great guide, knows the volcano, is super fit, patient and made sure I was safe at all times. I am a solo traveler and he was ok taking one person on hike. He is very punctual, I used him to go to Montreal Gardens and for the airport trip as well. I was staying on Bequia and we had to coordinate my arrivals at the ferry dock. He is very responsive and communicates well. The best thing about Fred is that he does it all, he drives, he has the historical information of St Vincent and he hikes. Most other guides hand you off to other guides to take you up the volcano.
