What to expect
This is a half day tour that combines snorkeling with colorful fish with an awesome private cenote & cave. First we visit an inlet to snorkel with the vast array of Caribbean fish and there is always the possibility to see a stingray or a sea turtle. For this activity we visit an inlet or a bay to avoid waves and currents, making the snorkeling safe & easy.
Cenotes are one of the most attractive characteristics of the landscape of the Yucatan peninsula. These amazing caves are full of all kinds of magnificent limestone formations, stalactites and columns. But it is the fact that they are flooded with rainwater which makes them so special. These natural wells were and still are considered sacred - they provide access to the vital liquid that gives life (water) and in traditional Mayan thought, they are also the entrance to the Underworld.
We visit an exclusive cavern where we are able to appreciate the different kinds of formations and learn about their process of evolution, walking through galleries for 600 m. underground. This is a truly magical and spiritual journey through the Mayan Underworld.

The wonderful experience started with our driver, Sergio. He picked us up promptly from our resort lobby. He was extremely kind from the moment we stepped on his van. His English was excellent and therefore, we enjoyed conversations with him throughout the trip to the lagoon. As we drove to the destination, he informed us of the culture and history of the villages we were passing along the way. Once we arrived at the lagoon, we met Iber and the other couple we were exploring the lagoon with that afternoon. They were very friendly and Iber/Sergio were extremely helpful in making sure all of our personal items were taken care of. Sergio even took pictures on our phone as we snorkeled in the lagoon. Iber was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the park, wildlife, and art along the way. The water was slightly chilly but beautiful! We were lucky and got to see a lot of fish. After about 45 minutes of snorkeling, we had a yummy homemade snack of granola and bananas before heading to the Cenote. Again, the drive was enjoyable as Sergio made conversation with us the whole drive. The Cenotes were incredibly beautiful! Breathtaking actually! It was difficult to wrap our heads around the natural beauty. Iber was SO knowledgeable and respectful of the integrity of the Cenote and of the Mayan cultural throughout the tour. After the Cenote tour, Sergio had an authentic picnic lunch prepared for us! It was incredibly YUMMY and was prepared by a local Tulum family. We most enjoyed that the tour was only us and one other couple because Iber was able to answer our questions throughout the tour without the hassle of a large group. I also appreciated that the transportation was private so we didn’t have to go out of our way to visit other resorts for pickup/drop off. We felt so comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire experience. I would highly recommend requesting Iber and Sergio on your tour with Mexican Kan Tours. 10/10 experience! We started the half-day tour together with our guide Paloma in the morning. We started the half-day tour together with our guide Paloma in the morning. Pick-up was very punctual from our hotel in Tulum. First we headed to a lagune for snorkling and saw a lot of beautiful/colourful fishes. Afterwards we went to the Maya Undeground cave which ended ina beautiful cenote, where we have been all by ourselfs. It was an amazing experience. Our guide Paloma was so lovely and told us a lot about the Mayan live. She prepared snack (banana, self made cookied) and took fotos of us whenever we wanted. I can really recommend her as tour guide! All in all a very nice tour!We had a great time on this tour! Our guide was so nice and very knowledgable. I highly recommend this tour!

We only had time for one tour during our stay in Tulum and I honestly don't think we could have picked a better option. We were unsure of what to expect, but were completely blown away by the unbelievable experience our guide Karen provided!!! Karen made sure we arrived to our snorkeling location early enough to beat any crowds which allowed us to see more fish than we would have ever seen on our own. As wonderful as that was, it was the underground river and cenote tour that really made this the highlight of our entire trip! Not only were was the location stunning, but I can't say enough about how Karen elevated the experience as our guide. Wether it was explaining the ecological or geological inner workings of the cave, or the cultural significance to the mayan people Karen was a true wealth of knowledge. Hands down the best guided tour I've ever experienced. Amazing from start to finish! Not normally ones to do a guided tour, my husband and I decided to book a private snorkel and cenote tour. Not normally ones to do a guided tour, my husband and I decided to book a private snorkel and cenote tour. I am SO glad we did! We ended up with an incredible tour experience led by our even more incredible guide, Karen. We arrived to snorkeling early enough to beat the crowds and enjoy some time swimming amongst the mangroves and fishes. Then we headed to a private cenote. This cenote was hands down one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. No matter the topic, Karen was a wealth of knowledge. She filled our tour with interesting historical information, Mayan spiritual beliefs, environmental information, and fascinating insights. Plus, she was a blast to hang out with! Our driver was so friendly and kind. The tour provided great snacks, a super tasty lunch and water for us. We can’t wait to return and do the full day in Coba with them!
