This was a last minute booking (27 Jan 2023) in Alta and it turned out to be one of the greatest excursions of our entire trip (right after seeing the Northern Lights)! Laila (the Mom) met us ship-side and drove us to their lovely farm in the Norwegian countryside. Anniken (the daughter) met us at the farm, hitched the team of Norwegian Fjord horses to the sleigh, and we were off! Such a beautiful and quiet ride through the snow covered valley! Anniken explained the history of the farm, how it is managed today, and aspects of the native Sami culture. We even talked a little about the local fishing. It was a great experience to hear and see it all from the sleigh! Then it was back to the farm to tour the barn, stable and the livestock. We huddled in the Sami tent to warm up and enjoy some of Laila's home made pastries and Anniken's cured meats. All of it was delicious!! All-in-all it was a wonderful experience - we learned so much about the Norwegian way of life. Laila and Anniken were SOOOO warm and inviting. I'd recommend this adventure to everyone! (pictures to follow with some better bandwidth)This was a fantastic day to an Arctic Farm with a horse-drawn wagon ride, snacks served in a Sami tent, seeing the farm animals up close and being welcomed by the friendly family who owned the farm. It far exceeded our expectations! Highly recommended!! 5 *****

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience! The driver was punctual and friendly. When we arrived to the farm the horse (a Norwegian draft horse) was hitched to the wagon. We spent time talking with the family, petting the horse, and taking pictures. Then we went on our ride. The views were breathtaking! We traveled down the road, along the river, crossed a bridge, and then crossed through the river to head back to the farm. They supplied blankets to keep us warm during the ride. When we arrived back to the farm we went into the tent to a warm fire, homemade cinnamon rolls, dried lamb, tea, coffee, and homemade blackberry lemonade. The refreshments were divine! The family was extremely nice and answered all of our questions. If you want a glimpse in to the Sami life, then this tour is one you should take. This was perhaps the best excursion my wife and I have ever experienced. This was perhaps the best excursion my wife and I have ever experienced. This is a family run business, and they were all very warm and welcoming. The horse sleigh ride was the best. The jingle of the bells on the harnesses added to make this so much fun. It was snowing lightly, some wind, and it was very cold, but nevertheless, we enjoyed this immensely. Following the sleigh ride, we were given a tour of farm life and the barn. We were met by a herd of sheep. One in particular started talking to us with his baa baa baa. So, I responded baa baa baa. He returned with baa baa baa. I think we might be related. Next they took us over to the yurt where we were treated to cold cuts, warm home made cinnamon rolls, and hot tea. And oh, did I mention there was a fire in there to warm us up? Overall, this was way above our expectations, and we highly recommend it to everyone who loves people, adventure, and meeting long lost relatives (the sheep).
