What to expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Vatican Museums, Viale Vaticano, 00120 Vatican City Italy
Being the burial place of St Peter Rome, the Vatican has always been considered a holy city – a second Jerusalem, but besides that its museum is a chest of countless masterpieces: the astonishing gallery of statues, the fascinating gallery of maps, the gallery of tapestries and the Raphaels rooms. During your visit to the Vatican Museums you will have the opportunity to learn about the great artists who helped embellish one of the most fascinating sovereign states in the world.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy
Than prepare yourselves for a Stendhal syndrome effect as you enter the Sistine chapel and lift your head up to the the most-probably most-famous and most-admired ceiling in the world and immerse yourselves into the “last judgment”, the seemingly never-ending fresco magnificently adorned by Michelangelo’s life-like, potent figures of Adam, God and Saints, and try to spot the artist’s self portrait on the torso of Saint Peter!
Here the conclaves of cardinals have come together periodically, throughout the centuries, to elect a new pope, and Pope John Paul II called it the “Holy Spirit’s place of action”.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: St. Peter's Basilica, Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Vatican City Italy
Such a journey can be accomplished only after another special final visit: the inside of St. Peter’s basilica: admire the incredible mosaics, Michelangelo’s Pietà, and Bernini’s Baldachin in all of their glory, close your eyes and take a deep breath: you are in the center of the most powerful religious power of history, surrounded by masterpiece.
Duration: 30 minutes

My wife and I have enjoyed the Uffizi for many years; we’d been there once by ourselves and twice with tours, but we’d never seen the Vasari Corridor. The ONLY reason we took this tour was to see the Vasari Corridor. You can easily see the Uffizi by yourself (you can book online or get priority access with your FirenzeCard), but you cannot go through the Vasari Corridor by yourself; you must be with a tour. So we booked a tour – the “VIP Experience: Uffizi Gallery and Vasari Corridor Walking Tour Including Terrace Breakfast” through Viator. The vouchers we received required us to meet our guide “at the Florencetown Office ... at least 15 minutes prior to departure time.” Our departure was 8 am, which meant that those on our tour needed to be at the Florencetown Office by 7:45, right? That didn’t happen in our case. Everyone arrived on time except for one couple that was half an hour late; we were told that we HAD to wait for them, but we were not told why. We effectively lost half an hour of our 4-hour tour because FlorenceTown did not enforce its own rules. Our guide, Sibille, was a very knowledgeable, personable young lady who did her best to handle the bad situation. (We weren’t the only ones on our tour who were unhappy about having to wait.) The Uffizi is always fabulous; the Uffizi part of the tour was essentially the “Masterpieces at the Uffizi” tour that’s laid out on the Uffizi’s website, so you could essentially get the same tour through the Uffizi’s website. The “breakfast” was minimal – a cup of coffee and a pastry, but it is in a great location on the Uffizi’s terrace. The amount of time you can spend in the Vasari Corridor is greatly restricted by the Uffizi. Each tour is accompanied by a guard who hurries everyone along to prevent anyone from dawdling – even for an extra couple of seconds it seemed. Our guard was VERY crabby – not even the hint of a smile the whole time we were in the Corridor. The Uffizi has even realistically painted two additional guards on a mirror near the end of the Corridor; they were painted in such a way so as to make them appear to be standing in the middle of the Corridor and reflect the Corridor though which we’d just come. From those two painted guards, it’s probably safe to assume that the grouchy behavior of our guard was sanctioned, if not encouraged, by the Uffizi. We did think it was interesting to see where the Vasari Corridor passes through the façade of the Chiesa di Santa Felicita and the special box constructed for the Medicis so that they could hear mass without being seen by commoners below. There was barely enough time to just glance at each piece of art, much less get anything more from it, even with an excellent guide like Sibille. Yes, there is a lot of great art in the Corridor, but as far as we’re concerned, seeing it wasn’t worth the aggravation – the late start and being rushed along much too quickly – none of which was Sibille’s fault. It was nice, though, to pretend for a few minutes that we were Medicis with easy access to the Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens from the Uffizi, the point of the Corridor after all. The bottom line is that we’ll just skip the Vasari Corridor the next time we’re in Florence.Assunta was an amazing guide, bringing to life the world beyond the Vatican walls, and visiting before the main opening times allowed me to experience the Vatican without being rushed and get some amazing pictures
