We did a guided tour and our guide was knowledgable and gave us a lot of information. As a northerner, I was not aware that Mardi Gras originated in Mobile, with the first one being in 1703. There are so many beautiful things to see here. There were rooms that took your breath away when you entered because it was so lavish and beautiful. I will go here every time I visit Mobile because it was such a unique and wonderful experience.Easy purchase, great experience. Love seeing the historical costumes and learning about the origins of Mardi Gras.

We planned our New Years Eve trip to Mobile to watch the Moon pie drop and enjoy the city. Mobile is a small city with potential. There were several restaurants and bars that were new since the last visit and looked really good. We ate at Ruby Sunshine for brunch, which was amazing and Loda Bier Garten for dinner. They had a good beer selection and the food was really good. Unfortunately, the night took a terrible turn. There were two different instances of the crowd running away from something. The concern of being trampled was very real. We now know one instance was the shooting, but the other instance was an hour later and we don't know what happened. Walking back to our rental had a very different feel. I did not feel safe and did not know about the shooting at that time. There were other people we passed expressing concern for their safety as well. We will not go back. This museum is full of trains worn by various Kings and Queens over the years. The gist shop has all sorts of reasonably priced mementos. This was a lot of fun. The staff was very helpful,Toni especially helping us to find all the place to see in downtown Mobile.
