We woke up in Izmir to be picked up by a driver and guide that were arranged by Best of Ephesus Tours. I had not used many private guides before and I was a bit skeptical, but Mehmet (Memo) was one of the best that I have seen. He was knowledgeable, funny, courteous, and interesting, and took us through the House of Mother Mary, the ancient city of Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis, of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. In between, we also took a lunch break and had a wonderful Turkish kebab lunch in a garden with plenty of meze, bbq kebabs and fresh fruit. I would highly recommend Mehmet as a private guide, who can bring alive the tour and add so many interesting stories as you're walking through each site. I especially enjoyed asking him is views on everyday life in Turkey and on current events that are happening now. After a long day of touring, we bid farewell and drove 3 hours to Bodrum. Best of Ephesus Tours also arranged private transportation for us in a comfortable van with a great driver (Suleyman). We got to the beach town safely and continued on with our 2 week tour of Turkey.It was a very good tour, Mehmet was very knowledgeable, we went to different places and learned a lot about Ephesus as well as Izmir. We made a stop for lunch after the tour, highly recommended local food. Very good team, thanks!

He was very adept at minimizing crowds and long lines. As an added bonus, he took us to have a very authentic Turkish meal.
