Therefore, this tour starts at a single meeting point, at the public parking lot in front of the Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa hotel (across the street) at 9:00am and ends at the same point at about 4:00pm.
The times for each stop must be met.
When in Silves, we will park by the river then we`ll lead you walking to the castle.
When in Monchique, we will park outside the town, then we`ll lead you walking to the center of the town, giving you tips.The guide will then set up a meeting point for pick up, and from there the customers will have more than 2 hours to enjoy Monchique on their own.

Situated overlooking the town below Silves Castle is considered the best preserved of the Moorish castle in Portugal
Silves' red sandstone castle, which dominates the town, was built by the Moors who held the Al-Gharb (Algarve) region from the 8th to 13th centuries. During this time, Silves (known at the time as Xelb) became an important centre of trading and culture and was the capital of the Al-Gharb.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Quinta Do Frances Winery, Odelouca River Valley Sitio da Dobra, Cx Postal 862H, Silves 8300-037 Portugal
Experience Quinta do Francês hospitality.
Upon your arrival at Quinta do Francês you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding hills and all the vineyard. It is even said by some visitors that it looks like a small Douro Valley.
You then enter our wine shop & tasting room, where you can purchase our products and also regional products.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Monchique, Monchique, Faro District, Algarve
Monchique is best visited on foot. A walk trough the steep streets of the town centre is rewarded with the views of magnificent hills, glimpsed between houses, and moments of calm in unsuspected corners.
We will park outside the town, then we`ll lead you walking to the center of the town. The guide will then set up a meeting point for pick up, and from there the customers will have more than 2 hours to enjoy Monchique on their own.

Stop At: Caldas de Monchique, Monchique 8550-998 Portugal
Caldas de Monchique (often called Termas de Monchique), it is a village but also a spa resort.
The quality of the water in the hills, called “sacred water” by many, has been famous since the time of the Roman occupation of the peninsula. There are eight springs from which the water comes with a PH of 9.5 – the most alkaline in the country.

Gabriel is an excellent tour guide who shares his love and passion for his beautiful country in such an enthusiastic way, you will certainly fall in love with everything! He went above and beyond by even adding a beautiful beach to finish off our tour. We highly recommend this tour if you wish to learn more about Silves and Monchique, oh and don't forget to drink straight from the natural springs with its alkaline water. We travelled to Monchique and Silves with Gabriel on his offering with GL Tours on 28 February. We had an absolutely fantastic time! Gabriel was extremely accomodating and flexible, as we had a cancelled train coming into Albufeira and met us at the station despite our delays. He crafted the tour...
We travelled to Monchique and Silves with Gabriel on his offering with GL Tours on 28 February. We had an absolutely fantastic time! Gabriel was extremely accomodating and flexible, as we had a cancelled train coming into Albufeira and met us at the station despite our delays. He crafted the tour to our tastes, including suggesting to stop for lunch at Caldas de Monchique (as we had packed a picnic lunch from home) in what was a highlight of the day excursion. He also took the time to take us to a forest with cork trees and walk us through the Algarve's rich flora, including the carob - we had never tried any before, and Gabriel went out of his way to surprise us with carob biscuits at our last stop in Monchique! An extremely sweet gesture that we will remember for a time to come (P.S. the biscuits were DELICIOUS!) We highly recommend touring the Algarve with Gabriel if you make a visit to the area, and we look forward to booking Alentejo tours with Gabriel the next time we want to travel across the Algarve and Alentejo!Josephine O

You must book with Gabriel! He is funny, chatty and had fab personality. We decided to do tour last minute as we were not sure what was available and stumbled across GL Tours and what a find. We stopped at beautiful silves the castle is breath taking and after Gabriel’s advice we had some lovely orange juice and cake just outside the castle it was lovely was to pass 20 minutes in such a beautiful place.After silves we had some wine tasting and was so good we bought some bottles home with us. The lady in the vineyard was extremely friendly and gave lots of information about the wines and how the vineyard had been established. We then carried on our journey to the springs, which felt like the most tranquil place ever. Off to monchique next stop and our wonderful guide gave us best advice on where to eat I had best steak of my holiday for half the price you pay in resort. Gabriel takes the time to make sure you enjoy every aspect of your trip. We have already booked him for our holiday in June.MaryAnn_A
