My wife & I really enjoyed the day trip to Sibiu with Florin. He was punctual, courteous, very pleasant & most importantly a very safe driver. He was also kind enough to make a few stops on the way, just so that we could take a couple of photos of the beautiful Mountain scenery & gorgeous landscapes. Florin also took us to a lovely Monastery/Church on the way to Sibiu. Very peaceful & tranquil & well maintained. Worth visiting. We also visited a local Romanian house, which had a giant water wheel, apparently the only remaining one from that era & that too in working condition. The owner was very charming & nice. The house also had a very interesting functional mini flour mill set up with various kinds of grains on display, along with various equipment & tools used by the family's previous generations. Sibiu was a lovely little town, very lively, since it was the weekend. We happened to be there on the day when there was a local marathon being organised. Lovely to see families having a good time & enjoying themselves, especially the children. We also enjoyed exploring the hidden streets, back alleys, the public park & especially the local food market, which had numerous stalls selling various kinds of locally grown produce & home made food items. I did end up buying couple of jars of delicious Romanian honey for friends & family. I highly recommend everyone should definitely try the local honey & the sheep cheese. Overall a great experience & worthwhile day trip to Sibiu & most importantly we were extremely pleased to have Florin as our guide. Hope my fellow TAs & their families get an opportunity to experience the true beauty of Romania, especially the town of Brasov & the nearby locations & the fairytale Romanian villages like Magura, etc.We are SO glad we found Florin! We are SO glad we found Florin! His tour from Brasov to Sibiu was superb. We particularly liked that we got off the beaten path and saw more of the "Real Romania.". We considered modifying the intinerary to make more time for Sibiu but in fact are pleased we stayed with his plans. The Sinca Veche Monastery is a must, and we loved the ruined abbey at Carta. The Ohaba water mill was quaint, and the Fagaras Fortress worth a visit. Many overseas visitors will want to know how Florin's English and driving are. He is highly conversant in English but occasionally needs to ask clarification. His tour was easy to understand and he is very knowledgeable. Language was never a barrier He is a careful driver, too, so that lets you focus on the tour. I got Florin from Tours By Locals, but he also does tours for Viator. I found him highly effective, cordial and knowledgeable, and I recommend him wholeheartedly and without reservation. My husband and I had an amazing day today visiting Sibiu as well as an underground monastery, a family business where they make gorgeous carpets, the ruins of a Cistercian abbey and the medieval town of Sibiu. My husband and I had an amazing day today visiting Sibiu as well as an underground monastery, a family business where they make gorgeous carpets, the ruins of a Cistercian abbey and the medieval town of Sibiu. Florin is a great guide. He is very friendly, interesting and informative. The tour was very relaxed and focused around our interests. As you can tell from the itinerary I described, we got to see some very interesting places not visited often by tourists that we would have never found on our own. My favorite parts were climbing the Council Tower in Sibiu and the Cistercian abbey. I highly recommend this tour!
