You may think you’re a fear-defying thrill lover, but can you handle the ultimate heart-pounding experience? Find out in Gansbaai by cage diving with various shark species. This full-day shark-diving experience takes you out into the open ocean off the shore of Gansbaai and puts you in their habitat. Before jumping in, you'll learn about the sharks from the onboard marine biologist and expert guides. Breakfast, snacks and Cape Town hotel pick-up and drop-off are included.

What to expect

Itinerary

Marine Dynamics, operating in Gansbaai, Western Cape, South Africa, a world hot spot for various shark species - you will experience an incredible cage diving adventure on board our custom designed boat, Slashfin. An on board marine biologist will educate you as you get up close and personal with sharks and visit the famous Shark Alley. We are certified by Fair Trade Tourism and work together with the Dyer Island Conservation Trust. We are involved in shark research which includes shark fin identification and tagging and tracking the great white. You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of sharks. We are only a 3-hour drive from Cape Town along a scenic route. The trip meets an hour before launching for wetsuit sizing, checking-in, educational briefing and breakfast or lunch. You will also receive refreshments on board with vegetable soup and fresh bread rolls on return; towels, clean wetsuits and masks. Enjoy your trip with our very experienced crew. The shark cage diving tour duration can be 2.5 - 3 hours.

  • Please note: Sharks are wild animals and their presence cannot be guaranteed. Every experience that guests have is educational from start to finish. The local supplier works with wild life and nature and sightings are never guaranteed. If a shark has been sighted from the boat, they will consider that a successful trip. If there is no shark activity while on a shark cage diving tour with the supplier, then a voucher will be offered. This voucher is not transferable – your name and passport number will be recorded on the voucher. The transfer fee is non-refundable.
  • This tour typically departs at 9am, however if the weather conditions are bad in the morning, the tour will leave in the afternoon; this will be confirmed by the tour operator close to the day of your tour.
  • You must contact the local service provider to confirm your exact pickup time.

Lovely staff, felt well looked after. Didn’t see any sharks though… There is a blog you can check for sightings but no-show shark days aren’t listed. Why make out your taking families, people etc to view great white sharks paying stupid money and knowing that great white sharks ain’t been seen for years , fleecing innocent decent people out of hard earned wages to view something that ain’t been seen in years .
